Staff were very friendly, evening meals and breakfast were very well cooked. Plenty of staff so no long waits in the restaurant and the hotel is well placed for the Jurassic coast.

We have visited Charmouth many times over the years and sadly the priority from the local shops and places to eat appears to be fastly rising prices and far too expensive compared to other resorts around the area with a couldn't care less attitude to their visiters, i doubt we will rush to return there in the future !!

We enjoyed staying at the local Hensleigh House, only a 5 minute walk away from beach. Easy commute by bus into Lyme Regis.

Charmouth itself and some of the neighbouring beaches are great for walking, looking for fossils (in our case very amateurishly) and learning about them. The walk down to the village shops and onward to the beach - and especially the walk back uphill to where we were staying - was good exercise. And Lyme Regis is a nice contrast - but still relatively un-crowded in early June - with a good friendly fish restaurant (Tom's) where we lunched twice.

Lovely little town, not too busy, and the beach is great for fossil hunting. The Heritage Coast Centre is a must if you are in the area, full of fascinating fossil samples and facts and displays. Also has a cafe attached for drinks and snacks.

It’s winter so much of the town is closed however for hikers and the like, it’s an excellent time to visit.
In the summer, Charmouth can be very busy, especially the beach., but iconic beach, beautiful setting.

We stopped for a week and I could definitely have stayed longer, money allowing. I really like Charmouth. We went the first time probably 10 years ago and wanted to go back. I was not disappointed. I only went for fossil collecting, and came back very happy.
Good size and great to have two single bedrooms. All basics included: bedding, cooking oil, condiments, toilet rolls, towels, games, books. Also welcome pack was nice touch. Shower reasonably powerful and small outside sitting area at front. 2 miles from Lyme Regis and Charmouth sea fronts. Nice quiet housing area location at rear at rear of hotel.
Our room was lovely. It was light and airy with a double aspect, and very clean. The bathroom was beautifully tiled and was also very clean. We also liked that the property was close to Charmouth beach. Parking at the property was easy.
Fantastic little nook, great location and beautifully kept. Very clean and well stocked with all self catering essentials. If you are looking to stay near Charmouth beach then look no further than this property.
The Retreat was the perfect place for a trip away in Charmouth. The space was clean and comfortable with everything we could of wanted. We were welcomed warmly by Ruth and had a wonderfully relaxing stay.
