Breakfast was pre ordered the night before & was in the attached cafe- located through the hotel so no different to a usual restaurant. Could order what you wanted, price varied I think.
We all had the traditional cooked breakfast & for us the food was excellent, well cooked & tasty.
Not the traditional bacon, but was still very good & would have again.
Cereals were available, we just had enough with the hot food, served to our table.
Lovely friendly staff, very keen to please.
Large car park at the rear, free to guests- book in at reception.
Lovely location, next to Cleveland Way. Another time would like a longer stay so we could have a walk too, not just visit friends.
Rooms adequate. Lots of furniture so was a bit cramped. Comfortable bed. Clean sizable shower, pressure a bit low. All very clean.

Great location for coast to coast walkers.
The landlady was amazingly helpful when we arrived early, soaked through and cold - she got our room ready quickly, dried our wet coats and boots, made sure we got dry, warm and fed.

It's a beautiful location, we received a lovely warm welcome from the owners and other guests.
The room was amazing, well appointed, clean and spacious for such a beautiful old building.
The food, dinner and breakfast were delicious. The dinner was well priced and the large breakfast was included in the price.
We'd recommend them highly and as a bonus, the TV village of Aidensfield (real name Goathland) from Heartbeat is a few short miles away.

We loved the cottage, it was very comfortable and cosy and in such a peaceful location. It had the added bonus of a large garden with a Summerhouse that was perfect for relaxing in in the evening to watch the sunset. Linda and Craig were so welcoming, we enjoyed meeting them both and chatting about the area, family life and animals. It was very dog friendly with some lovely walks from the cottage.

The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt...
The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt the stunning location and scenery. It is a peaceful haven surrounded by wildlife and the wonderful North York Moors.
Its a great central location to visit the lovely coastline here such aa Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn etc and a special treat for us was to go to Ravenscar and see the grey seal colony. Blakey Ridge nearby holds a special place in my heart as does Rosedale where you will see some fantastic views. A drive up Chimney Bank in Rosedale is a must, whwre you will find the old disused kilns, and a lot of quality walks.
All of this without being too far from shops, pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be going back again when we get the chance. Can't wait for the next visit!

The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming.
The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming. We could quite comfortably sit in the pub, read, listen to the locals chat and eat some delicious food. Breakfast was perfect to set us up for a long day of walking and the views were beautiful.
