Staff were so hard working and helpful but seriously understaffed and overworked, nothing but praise for the efforts of those who were there
This historic country inn has delicious food and luxury rooms. It is within a few km of the famous Celtic Manor Resort, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Old Barn Inn dates back to the early 1750s.

Friendly, efficient staff. We were greeted with smiles. Particular mention goes to Anne who made us feel most welcome. She represented the Days Inn in a warm and professional manner. Thank you.

A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot.
A pleasant drive on a Friday evening over to Caldicot. Excellent weather, not too hot or too cold. An enjoyable day out with Hive Mind Mead & Brew Company. A Bee Keeping course in the morning and a Mead Making course in the afternoon. In between both courses, I had a relaxed walk around the grounds of Caldicot Castle!

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, but it has a lovely castle with attractive grounds - great for walking round and also entrance at times. Surrounding countryside is also attractive with easy access to the Wye Valley, Roman remains at Caerwent and the Brecon Beacons.

TV couldn't recieve signal, could only access a hand full of channels. Food from the nearby restaurants were very poor. Bed was very uncomfortable. Shower gel and had wash almost empty. only one toilet roll in bathroom. lack of staff
The reception staff! What lovely staff , such diamonds in the rough, quite literally!
Very happy to clean the bathroom for me, friendly with the dogs, and probs the best thing about the place . Around the car park and back of hotel plenty benches and grassy areas for dogs . I liked that the hotel was dog friendly and reasonably priced for their charges. Plenty shops next to hotel . Plenty parking
Lovely decorated guesthouse, with small things that make a difference (home-baked cake on arrival, good choice of teas in the room, conditioner...). Great breakfast with various options and very accommodating host. Caldicot was just a resting spot for the night, I wouldn't recommend visiting the town, but at least this stay made it more pleasant.
The Lychgate is only 10 mins from the main trunk roads and easy to find. It is located next to Caldicot Castle and has an excellent pub on the opposite side of the road.
The room was boutique size, more than adequate for us. The room and property were spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was plentiful.
We would stay there again
The location was perfect for us as we were going to a gig at Caldicot Castle and it was literally across the road. Easy to find, access instructions were great, parking on the drive and extremely close to a pub which did a fantastic meal.
Great freshly cooked breakfast which set us up for the day
the location was perfect for what I needed and the price was amazing however the room was dated not the cleanest and noisy. no air con and was uncomfortably hot. money needs spending on this hotel to get up to standard.
Lovely stay after a hard day's work. The Wales game was on and everybody was on a high so good atomosphere combined with great staff to control everything. Would recommend this place to others whilst working also.
Breakfasts were wholesome, well cooked and presented. The Caldicot Room overlooking the garden was peaceful very comfortable and the facilities provided were very good. A homely place.
