Glenesk Hotel, hotel in Brechin

n the beautiful Scottish village of Edzell, boasting a sauna, a gym and a swimming pool, this hotel is situated at the foot of the Angus Glens.

I loved the personal and adaptable touch from the team. It was a quiet period for the hotel and I sat in the lounge before dinner where the lady in charge put the fire on just for me and made me feel really comfortable and well looked after. I even had my dinner next to the fire rather than sitting alone in the dining room, it was a very lovely touch and one I will always remember. Thank you.

We were only there for an evening as we had traveled from Dunfermline in Fife and took in the sites locally before heading to bed and breakfast for 4pm. We visited the local golf course restaurant in Edzell which was a great find and beautiful food. We left at 10am the next morning to travel to Arbroath and surrounding areas.

We loved the area. It is pastoral and near the sea.

We loved the area. It is pastoral and near the sea. Lots of castles and history. Just far enough from Aberdeen for a true country experience. Montrose is close and lovely! Getting around the area is very easy, and we would definately return again. Great for walking about or jogging too! The beach in Montrose is wonderful for children especially. and dogs are everywhere and well behaved if you have a pet!

Brechin is a small and quit place.

Brechin is a small and quit place. Visited Cathedral which was impressive. Staff and punters in the two pubs I visited were friendly as were staff in hotel. I had a slow puncture while I was there and angus Tyres sorted in very quickly and cheaply. My main purpose was a football match. Ground is small, neat and tidy. Stewards and staff were very welcoming and helpful and evening was warm & still.

It was a very personal visit to my old home and school, but apart from that I must be honest and say that I feel Brechin does not have much to recommend apart as a springboard for exploring the glens and surrounding countryside

Well managed town house to which I will return. Huge wet room was a feature of Rm 101. Locals meeting in the public areas suggested it to be a well respected Brechin venue. Star of the show was a maid of all work whose name I didn't catch. Warm, welcoming and wanting to do all she could for the comfort of her guests, it was a delight to watch her work. More local girls like this would greatly improve the standard of the British hospitality industry. It would be a great loss to this hotel if it were to lose her!

Excellent facilities, including kitchen utensils (only missing a colander). Spacious with three double bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with a bath and one with a shower). Easy check-in (key safe). Very clean. Lots of sockets. Modern decor. Not overlooking any houses from the living room (you can see gardens and woodland beyond). Handy location for Brechin Train Station (heritage railway). Host gave plenty of information about key collection, car parking etc.

Easy to find in Brechin, beautifully decorated room with homely feel, huge attention to detail in the room (plentiful supply of towels, tea/coffee, USB charging points, dressing gowns). Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Plentiful selection and delicious breakfast in another beautiful room. Friendly and accommodating host. Thank you very much. You’re setting the standard for how all B&Bs should be. Highly recommend staying here.

Agnes was very welcoming and we were able to park our T6 camper outside the house. The room was lovely and Agnes was happy to make whatever we wanted for breakfast, at a time to suit us. Brechin was lovely for an evening stroll, with places for an evening meal.

My room at the Northern was spacious and bright. I had two meals there, both delicious, and the adjacent pub was friendly and lively. All members of the family who run the hotel and pub were cheerful and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
