It was very easy to find the key for the property and the instructions we were sent were spot on.
Once visited by Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI, parts of Irton Hall date back to the 14th century.

Wonderful overnight stay at the Newfield Inn Arrived at lunch and greeted by owner Les who was extremely welcoming.
Our room was already ready so we were able to drop in our bag. Room was very spacious with separate sitting area and excellent views of the valley. The Duddon Valley is a very special part of the lakes and numerous spectacular hikes to enjoy right from the pubs back door, Dow Crag, Harter Fell, Green Crag and etc as well as beautiful walks through the woodlands and rivers on the valley floor. Les and his team could not be more welcoming, post hike we enjoyed a gorgeous home cooked meal, stunning lamb shank and homemade nut roast, chef Dave even took the opportunity to ensure everything was to our liking. Bar and restaurant are extremely comforting and stacked with historical photos of the pub and valley, We were treated to a log fire later in the evening in the bar whilst chatting with barman Zach and locals from the valley.
Atop one of England’s most beautiful valleys, Woolpack Inn is a 20-minute drive from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. It is surrounded by scenic hiking trails, and offers real ales and free Wi-Fi.

Fantastic B&B with a wonderful room that thoughtfully had all the little touches for guests and so much more. The bed was exceptionally comfy and the USB chargers in the lamps were very handy.
The breakfast was outstanding, perfectly cooked to order and so much choice. It's no exaggeration to say Jo cooks the best full English I've ever had!
Jo goes above and beyond for her guests and also provides great advice on places to visit during your stay. So glad we found this place, we'll be sure to book again next time we're in the area.

Our stay at the Rainors Farm was extremly relaxing. The view was stunning, there was no noise, just farm animals and birds. Claire was very forthcoming and could read our minds. She made our stay just perfect! The homemade breakfast was excellent!

Location. Very friendly hosts. Good breakfast and packed lunches. Very comfortable bed.
Superb walking area. Absolutely outstanding views all around, very atmospheric.
Not easy access to Boot due to narrow roads but worth it.
Not easy access to Boot due to narrow roads but worth it. The Ravenglass steam railway is very close and worth the trip. A lot of interesting country pubs in the Boot area that are worth checking out, in particular the Boot Inn with a outdoor beer garden and very good food and friendly owners and staff.

Pub is lovely.
Pub is lovely. Room we had was spacious reasonably clean and very comfortable.
Food very nice. Breakfast ample choice. Fresh and well cooked.
Restaurant menu reasonable variety and each dish we had was well presented. Good portions and very tasty.
Be aware this is a dog friendly venue. Not all the clientele have good control of their dogs.
Not suitable unless you have your own transport.

The area is stunning.
The area is stunning. There are amazing walks of all types, a river to splash and play in and a steam train that takes you up the valley. For the history enthusiast there is also an amazing ruin of a Roman Fort on Hardnott Pass and a working water wheel in Boot.

Beautiful little village but with surprisingly a lot to do...
Beautiful little village but with surprisingly a lot to do there. The Boot Inn served lovely food. The water mill and Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway are right on the doorstep. It also an ideal spot to walk from, a short stroll to a waterfall or full on days hike up Scafell Pile without even getting in the car.
What a great place to stay was used as a base for a fair few hikes and I chose to take hardknott pass to get to Boot and what a drive it was. An amazing place to stay and would stay again in a heart beat.
The cottage had everything that was needed a private garden with bbq if needed and a fully equipped kitchen, I chose to eat at the boot inn which I highly recommend what a great pub right at the door step
The Boot Inn is one of my absolute favourite places in the Lakes - brilliant location which is quiet and peaceful, the venue itself is warm and inviting with great food, beers and always great company from the staff.
we liked everything, hotel nice friendly staff, gorgeous surroundings, & the food was exceptionally good we had the beef cheeks tasted amazing, our labrador loved his stay too, we would definitely love to return
