The location is beautiful. The grounds are wonderful for walking and views to the back of the property extend for miles.

we only went to the hickstead showground but near to hotel is a burger king but we ate at the hotel. food at hickstead was lovely and was served from 5pm to 9pm. pedestrian access to the hickstead showground is a bit odd and could be easily missed, you first pass lot of locked gates on the main busy road, they say Breen Equestrian on them then another plain black gate and you can see showground beyond it then its a narrow short rough path looks like just cut through some hedges but thats the way in for pedestrians. Walkable from hickstead hotel.

Met all our expectations breakfast was excellent only downside the Restaurant was not operating on our visit but we were informed of this beforehand so we made arrangements but would have preferred to be able to eat at the hotel for convenience.

A reasonable hotel, let down by it's poor and dated rooms.
A reasonable hotel, let down by it's poor and dated rooms.
Damp smell upon entering the room, water ingress staining on the bottom of the bathroom door. Shower over bath with plastic shower curtain (Ugh) THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BED I have suffered during my last 50 hotel stays!
Not all bad...Great car parking and the breakfast was fine!

At the time all other hotels were busy & full - therefore a short Jounery to & from Hayward Heath was only 15 mins from Hotel - going to Crawley is a 20/30 mins drive- Brighton very expensive & too far?
we had a lovely room on the ground floor. hotel is within walking distance of the hickstead showground, takes 30 mins although i think there was maybe a shorter route. lovely breakfast and dinner. the mixed salad was a big hit with my boyfriend. staff really helpful. there is an early check in fee if you need to check in early - we didnt we just left our bags with the hotel and came back at check in time.
it’s a traditional English hotel, not a massive chain full of reps and commuters
ignore the negative complaints about being dated, yes some bits are from the 1990’s but a slightly tarnished tap never bothered anyone
what I did like was it seemed staffed by local people, and youngsters starting out in their working life, not trained clones just nice normal people
We came for a week to visit our family who were having building work done, so we couldn’t stay with them. We have used the hotel before and feel very comfortable staying there. Lovely staff and comfortable room. We didn’t have meals.
Hotel was nice and quiet, tucked away in the countryside. Staff were lovely and very accommodating.
We didn't take advantage of the breakfast in the morning so can't comment on that, but it looked quiet when we went past.
