Boat of Garten is a great little village with all the necessaries. The post office/village shop has some excellent fare on offer. Anderson's restaurant and the Boat Hotel are well worth a visit. The EV chargers at the village hall are very convenient and the village is surrounded by a variety of well maintained and signed forest paths to suit all abilities.

Boat of Garten is a nice small village with a few places to go and eat. We went to Boat Country Inn and had a lovely meal. It is also central for places to visit and country walks. Love the train station - old style and well kept

If you like being outdoors it is perfect.
If you like being outdoors it is perfect. Loch Garten is the perfect tonic for anyone tired of city life, it was so beautiful and peaceful there.
Of course Aviemore is close if you want skiing in season and perhaps some night life.
Grantown on Spey was lovely and more forest nearby in Anagach Woods.
Lots of Neolithic sites near Grantown too.
Nethy Bridge was lovely, surrounded by forest.

Beautiful location and only a short drive to Aviemore.
Beautiful location and only a short drive to Aviemore. We took the train to Inverness for the day and had a beautiful meal in a restaurant there. Easy to get to the shops and supermarkets in Aviemore itself.

This was a beautiful place to stay, we had a gorgeous room (101), super friendly and helpful staff (Muir was lovely, I didn't get the names of everyone else, but both the women on reception, the guy on the bar, Thomas from the kitchen who gave us tips for a beautiful walk, and the woman in the restaurant with a mandala were all wonderful, very accommodating, really cheerful, and we had some great chats with everyone too).
Views straight out to the mountains and the steam train, the food was lovely, very tasty, good portions, plenty of choice, and honestly the fastest I've ever known food to arrive from any restaurant ever! We had a couple of cocktails too and again they were delicious.
The room was warm and comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean.
Fantastic accommodation. Clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Plenty of space for our ‘grown up’ family. Lovely sunset view from the patio windows. Cooking facilities and linen a plenty. Gorgeous! Location was perfect for dipping in and out of Aviemore and the surrounding area. Lots to do nearby. Booking was easy and communication with owners was clear and very helpful. Would definitely recommend a stay here and hope to return at some point ourselves.
The garden rooms are perfect for families with children and dogs. The hotel is in a lovely location next to a picturesque train station. Also, only 7 minutes drive to Landmark Forest Adventure Park, 10 mins to Aviemore and many other close by attractions.
The breakfast was lovely every day. Dinner in the restaurant was great too. The service was excellent and the staff super friendly. All hotel staff were polite, chatty and helpful.
Excellent base for a family holiday in the Highlands. Homely and comfortable with everything you need. After a small problem with the oven, the owners got it sorted out and the communication from them was spot on. Would highly recommend poppy lodge and will be re-booking for next year's holiday.
Boat of Garten is perfectly placed if you like an active holiday with beautiful walks and bike tracks and five minutes from Aviemore.
Lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable on a nice quiet site.
Good location with plenty of walks on your doorstep
A 5min walk to village centre, village shop and the Boat Inn and Restaurant, Anderson's restaurant worth a visit too.
Welcome basket with tea, coffee and mini chocolate bars, but plenty more items in cupboards for you to use.
Very enjoyable stay - we certainly wished we would have stayed longer! Our room was spacious and very comfortable, and our hosts were most welcoming and warm. Breakfast was another highlight - incredibly good and varied. The village of Boat of Garten is very quiet and enjoyable, much better alternative than staying in Aviemore in our opinion.
all mod cons, gas central heating, smart tv with Netflix on rainy days, great set of cooking utensils. very well thought through with games and a small set of toys for kids. we were made to feel very welcome with beers chilling in the fridge, shortbread and snacks for our kids. best chalet in boat of garten.
Very clean and comfortable caravan. Beautiful view from the living room and large decking area. Adequate parking spot right on the doorstep. Peaceful and beautiful area..Boat of Garten village is such a beautiful little place. Highly recommended.
absolutely wonderful stay, the staff was beyond helpful and welcoming. they let us store our bikes in their secure storage room and always welcomed us with warm smiles. food at the restaurant was great and the atmosphere of the hotel was lovely.
The location is brilliant, close to aviemore and surrounding areas. Close to Landmark which the kids loved. Lovely walk through the woods in Boat of Garten. Loch Morlich was a short car journey.
The kitchen in the chalet was well equipped.
It was amazing ! The chalet was gorgeous, extremely clean, tidy and modern. We were left a lovely welcome pack. The hosts were easy to contact when we required assistance getting the keys. I would 100% recommend this property to anyone !
It was perfect for a family with one child, fully equipped with everything for travel, very clean, spacious and pleasant. Great location just a short drive from Aviemore and other places of interest in the Cairngorms.
Comfortable bed, good sized room. Friendly staff and nice breakfast. Parking on site as well.
Great location with lovely walks nearby, as well as close to the pub/restaurant and post office shop.
Excellent property just outside Aviemore. Fantastic for a family. Absolutely spotlessly clean and owner very helpful with information before arrival. Will definitely book again.
