The Claremont Preston, hotel in Barton

Set in Preston, 22 km from King George's Hall, The Claremont Preston offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a bar. This 3-star hotel offers free WiFi.

We chose the Claremont because it was close to the M6 and had breakfast included, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Room was comfortable and spacious, staff were friendly and helpful, and the cooked breakfast was fantastic. Excellent value for money, will stay here again next time we need an M6 stopover between Scotland and the south-east.

The location was ideal for what I wanted as I needed to attend some performances held on the Market Square in Preston City Centre. I like the self check-in side of things, as it allowed independence. It was also very near to the train station and the lovely little park in front of the building was ideal to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Haighton Manor - Brunning and Price, hotel in Barton

Located in Grimsargh, 20 km from King George's Hall, Haighton Manor - Brunning and Price provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Delightful building & gardens set in such peaceful countryside but less than 3 miles from the hospital. The staff are incredibly helpful & kind. Unfortunately I’d left my car headlights switched on overnight, & so had a flat battery in the morning, but one of the staff allowed me to jumpstart my car from his. Lovely inventive menu with fresh delicious produce. All areas are nice, the terrace outside, the conservatory restaurant & the bar area are all attractive.

When we arrived our room smelt musty and dirty then we couldn’t get the electric to work apparently our room is renowned for this and there is a knack for wiggling the fitting. Then we had no hot water. The basin unit was damp and rotting from the bottom. For the money we paid a very sub standard room

Great place good food choice of either pub menu or there's an Italian restaurant and loads of outdoor seating right next to the canal, great for a stroll down canal looking at the wildlife and boats. Highly recommended.

Comfortable stay in a characterful hotel in a beautiful location. Very friendly staff, with large rooms and super comfy beds. Nice and warm room and good hot water in the shower. Lighting was dim in the main room but bright in the bathroom. Only one plug socket, away from bed. Bathroom could do with a bit of tlc but clean and tidy.

Receptionist looked like she had been dragged through a hedge backwards, poor safety standards in the room, poor nights sleep. Good quality breakfast, bit long coming, like my bacon done a bit more. Wouldn’t stay there again.

Saddened the Italian menu has changed not rack of lamb on the menu, mother in law only got 2 baby potatoes on her meal, charged different prices at the bar through our stay ranging from 9 pounds to 20 pounds for the same drinks, pubic hairs in the bath, no night time entertainment very disappointed as we have been come to guys for over 15 yrs .

Nothing. This so called "hotel" was filthy. Our room (Number 12) was grubby and covered in dust and cobwebs. The slats on the venetian blind were taped together with sellotape. The lavatory wouldn't flush, the vent on the wall above the lavatory was covered in dust, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. To make things worse, the shower plug was blocked and the water was unable to drain away.

Very interesting setting. Looking forward to staying there in the summer Best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had ! Lovely staff and comfortable bed FYI the bathroom area is not separated from the bedroom area. So if you don’t want your partner to see you in the bath ask for a different room. The loo was, of course, separate !

The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water for a bath. It was a peaceful location. The hotel itself looked quirky with all the thatched rooves, though I didn't get to see it properly as I arrived in the dark, and left before it got properly light the next day.
