We were at Loch Lomond for a specific Stand Up Paddleboard Race and the apartment at Lomond castle was perfect for us. We didn't go into Balloch itself but the surrounding area was beautiful.
We travelled to Luss which was very busy on the Saturday so we decided to travel around the loch and arrived at Balmaha which was quieter but just as lovely. The Oak Tree in at Balmaha served delicious food.
Duck Bay Marina (just outside Balloch) was ok for a drink ( we couldn't get a table for food).
Excellent host who was willing to fulfil our special request of a very late check-in - a request that we found very hard to accept by other hotels or guest houses doing in-person check-in in that area.
Fantastic breakfast menu you can choose from the evening before. Even better the taste and quantity of served meals we were not able to finish.
We had a very short but the better stay at Gowanlea Guest House I would recommend to anybody. If coming back to Balloch and surroundings, definitely going to stay at Gowanlea again.
The hotel was spotless and in the best location. We upgraded to a suite, which was very worth it. The view was outstanding. The restaurant was lovely, and the cafe was great for rolls and sausage in the morning. Have been to other hotels in the area, but this is the best. I will definitely be back.
Beautiful town house with all the facilities needed to make your stay very comfortable. Views over the Loch are beautiful and patio area and first floor balcony are lovely area to enjoy the peaceful views of the loch. Great parking and easy walk to Duck Bay and Cameron House Hotel.
The room was very spacious and the bed very comfy. Breakfast was great, the restaurant served great food. The hotel is some distance away from the centre and the train station. The staff was awesome!
