Lovely building, quiet location. Staff very helpful and excellent communication. Room was very spacious. Ate breakfast in the cafe and the bacon rolls were super. Gave direct feedback to the manager on my observations and they were acknowledged and welcomed.

It’s an ideal location to explore the island with a fascinating history. There’s a cafe, but I didn’t try it. It’s a place going through a change now, with a lot of young trees growing and some pretty gardens.

Highly recommend Loch Eriscort Hotel for an evening meal. Food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. Great views over the loch, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a white tailed eagle (we were lucky enough to see it)

Lovely cottage at Tabost near Ballallan.

Lovely cottage at Tabost near Ballallan. Very comfortable stay and lovely views from the windows. We had everything we needed and only wished we had been able to stay longer. We ate at Ballallan Bistro, which is set in the Community Centre. Does not look much from the outside, and it is set in a big room. But the meal was outstanding and the service great. The two young men running it were very welcoming. Had a walk from Cromor head which was full of amazing views and though quite challenging, (for oldies like us) and a bit of bog yomping, was most enjoyable.

There's not a lot to do in Balallan!

There's not a lot to do in Balallan! It's basically a fairly long village on the A859 Leverburgh to Stornoway and Port Nis road. Our business activities were in Barvas on Lewis and Leverburgh on Harris and Balallan was an alternative to Stornoway. Can heartily recommend the Balallan Bistro, which is located in the former school building in Balallan, as a place for lunch and/or evening meals.

Balallan is easy to get around. Everything is signposted.

Balallan is easy to get around. Everything is signposted. Licensed shop a short drive away and local community hall provides cooked food if you fancy a night off cooking. The main town of Stornaway just about 30 mins drive away.
