just not our kind of B/B too noisy as room was above the bar. breakfast was not up to standard as bacon was over cooked and egg was under cooked. service was very slow . the area was very beautiful and was easy to go to other towns . left early as didn't sleep very well. not used to single beds.

Very quaint and small town where all the locals know and trust each other. We were warmly welcomed into the only pub in the village. The village was very quiet save the sheep or occasional car driving through. Great area to go out walking yourself or with a dog, bring wellies or walking boots for the muddy paths! Not far away from Kirkbymoorside and Pickering if you need some proper shops.

Fantastic location, fabulous food, good bar and nice comfy rooms. Regulars at the Inn seem to forget some people there are on holiday and paying to stay there as they can be rude in their manner. Additionally some of the older staff do seem to give regulars preferential treatment when waiting at the bar or taking food orders. The other staff however are lovely and work very hard.

The pub is the only place in the village that's not residential. It is very rural with sheep grazing in the street (plus droppings). Practically no street lighting at night. Decent walks from the front door of the Inn, though when you're used to the Highlands the North York Moors are a bit bleak.

This is a well located moorland village, only a mile from the main road Helmsley to Pickering - so a great spot for seeing all the lovely surroundings and, of course, the steam railway. The village itself is very attractive - not chocolate box - but a wide main street, with sheep on the grass verges, an interesting church and some beautiful stone houses. The excellent Moors Inn, with its busy local bar and great food, is really the only facility in the village, which sits just on the edge of the Moors. The village has a peaceful atmosphere, yet is close to other places with more life. Perfect spot if you want to go dog walking too.
