Logis Hôtel Auberge du Cheval Blanc, hotel in Yvoy-le-Marron

Located in Yvoy-le-Marron in the heart of Sologne, this hotel of typical architecture is 12 km from La Ferté St Aubin SNCF Train Station.

This was my fourth stay at this delightful auberge which serves well either as an excellent overnight stopover if driving between the UK and southern France, or as a well placed base to explore the Solonge and areas around La Loire near Orleans. The village of Yvoy-le-Marron is interesting in itself having been rebuilt almost entirely in the 19C when the swampy Solonge was drained. It has remained small with plenty of open space and publicly accessible forest paths that can be followed without using your car to get going, or as a base to cycle from. The rooms themselves are comfortable but fairly basic, but if you want to be out all day or are on a stopover that is fine. What makes Le Cheval Blanc really special besides its location is the cuisine. The dining and breakfast rooms are comfortably furnished and make an appropriate setting for meals. We were really impressed with the menu and its execution. We thought that the range offered was interesting and varied, with each dish beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. We were returning from a 5 week stay further south and had enjoyed many excellent meals out in this time: we rate the dinner we had at Le Cheval Blanc at the upper end of our experiences. One of us had been living in France for the past 20 years and thinks the same.

Le pigeonnier de la Farge is a guest house set in Chaumont-sur-Tharonne, in 6 hectares of land bordered by the Tharonne river. The Châteaux of the Loire Valley are a 40-minute drive away.

Céline et Thierry made out of this property a haven for tranquility, with a lot of attention to details, and great sense of hospitality. Celine breakfast says it all and Thierry passion for perfection stands out in every inch restored on the property. A centuries old property that is best kept by great people. It is my first B&B experience and it is going to be hard to beat. We will be back!!!

Very cosy and admirably decorated house with character. Lots of space inside and outside - the kids particularly liked playing on trampoline! Careful and gentle owner who went above and beyond to make us comfortable, and stocked us with extra food for the next day trip!

A beautiful hotel with an artistic facade in a charming little town. The room was brand new and modern, very clean and comfortable. The host lady is very friendly and gave us wonderful breakfast with fresh pastries from the local bakery. It was such a relaxing stay and each morning we wake up with only birds singing.

you need a satnav to locate it but the scenery is great. once you are near the chateau drive there's a large sign. yvoy was easy to navigate. i had a mealbefore i arrived. huge tastefully decorated guest lounge overlooking gardens with fascinatin posters and genuine antique artefacts concerning napoleon and this was ideal for reading books etc. thr dining room was also palatial and i was surprised at the amount of food and drinks on offer.
