Soooooooooo many stairs everywhere! But, Villefranche is absolutely beautiful. It's easy to get to other cities and the walk to Nice, although about 1.5 hours, is very beautiful. You can go through your entire wardrobe in early May since it is is cool in the morning and in the shade and hot in the afternoon. Always carry change with you for public bathroom in Villefranche and the surrounding cities. Definitely get the pavlova at Les Garcons!

Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely, out of the hustle & bustle...
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely, out of the hustle & bustle of cities with interesting historical and nature sites nearby. For the "magnifique appartement" the outdoor terrace, availability of a few coffee pods in the apartment, and affordable pricing for the Cote d'Azur were most likeable.
What is unlikeable includes the dark entrance and hallway, sticky floors, dust everywhere, dank smell, dirty silverware and pots, lumpy, foam bed with worn linen, metal sofa bed, dying plants, unworking floor lamp, lack of information for how to use any appliances (no toaster was to be found in any of the overcrowded-with-random-cookware cupboards), stale spices, worn towels, lack of toilet, tissue and paper towels, remote location, difference between images in listing and actual furnishings, space and amenities.

A small, friendly Patrimoine (heritage ) town to the east of Nice. It has a good rail and bus service to Nice and towns to the east.
The town has many small, friendly restaurants and bars. There are small but well-stocked shops in the town. It makes a great base to explore this part of the riviera and beyond.

We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
We loved the historic, quiet beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer. We know it would be much busier in Summer so being there at the start of Spring was perfect although some restaurants were not open - April would probably be the ideal time. It is such a pretty town with a lovely harbour and so different to the glitzy high-rise of other parts of the French Riviera. The people were friendly and it was easy to travel beyond the town by train or bus to places like Nice, Monaco and Cap Ferrat. The tourism information centre people were very helpful, as were the friendly staff at Les Palmiers - great food too. We visited the Citadel and also the gorgeous Saint-Pierre chapel which was decorated outside and inside by Jean Cocteau.

Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages...
Villefranche-sur-mer is one of the most beautiful villages in the South of France, beautiful harbours, beaches and stunning views. Surrounded by nearby beautiful towns, you can walk to Beaulieu Sur Mer & St Jean Cap Ferrat and being located in between Nice & Monaco, you are just a quick easy train ride either way or a stunning walk to either. The location is amazing. Highly recommend a fabulous Hotel in Villenfranche-sur-mer called “HOTEL DE LA DARSE” which I have stayed at twice now and it is excellent value for money, has a lovely restaurant & terrace, super breakfast, stunning views from the balcony rooms.

It is just such a beautiful place.
It is just such a beautiful place. Maybe not so suited for elderly or disabled people because there are a lot of stairs down to the vibrant area of the port and beach where most of the restaurants and bars are located. We had wonderful meals and drinks in great bars and loved sitting close to the water to eat our meal !! There is a little shuttle bus that can take you down from the top to the bottom but it only goes once an hour!

The draw of Hotel La Regence is its atmosphere and charm, not to mention its amazing staff. There is a sense of going back a few decades in time when staying here; a time when people were genuinely friendly. "Regulars" visit the downstairs bar and coffeeshop all day long. This is a place to hang out and catch up on the town happenings, while keeping an eye on the farmer's market and soccer/football match across the street in the town park.
room was clean, with comfortable bed, AC and good blinders. Location wise was perfect, in the heart of the cute village Villefranche sur Mer and close to the beach as well (about 10mns walk). Good restaurants nearby. We had the room on ground floor facing the street, it might be a bit noisy, depending on the traffic, but a good pair of earplugs will fix this. The receptionist was very friendly.
Location is very central to the old town of Villefranche. We were able to shop locally and eat our fresh bread and croissants in the apartment. It is close to small restaurants and bars, so we did not have to go into Nice to eat and drink.
The apartment is close to bus and train stations.
A lovely sandy beach is a short walk away.
I came late with a kid and wife, and no one was either answering phones or opening the doors.
How jnbelievable to waste £120 and still no one texting back or ringing me regarding a refund I requested at midnight on 18/12/2023.
Booking.com staff said that they can not find anyone at the hotel.
I can tell there is a scam here.
The location is gorgeous, with sea view and very close to St.Jean Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-mer and Beaulieu-sue-mer. Also you have quick access to the bus station and the train station from Beaulieu. The hotel is beautifully decorated with typical French details and has a cosy garden with lots of greenery.
I really the authentic building and feel of the hotel. It’s located above the old town, so a short walk up hill and easily reached from Villefranche Train Station. We had a room with a balcony and lovely view across the bay. I enjoyed sitting in the garden courtyard for breakfast.
Lovely situation by the stunning historic Darse harbour, breakfast on the terrace watching the boats. Had a great quiet room overlooking the pretty garden. The hotel still has some period features, with a wonderful marble staircase and nouveau tiles in restaurant.
A simple but charming cafe and hotel with a local feel. Rooms are ample and everything was perfectly comfortable and clean. It's also a great base for exploring Villefranche-Sur-Mer, about ten minutes walk to the waterfront.
The location of the hotel is magnificent! It overlooks the water on a quiet side street and the view is amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We will be back and we will stay here again.
We loved this beautiful family run hotel.
A beautiful location over looking the port.
