Location is fantastic. Beautiful river in a mountainous valley. Truly stunning setting.
Cafe/bar looked brilliant. Didn’t use as was a rushed visit.

A beautiful apartment in a lovely location with a stunning view from the balcony. Sebastien was a charming host, welcoming both us and our dog. The apartment is comfortable, tastefully decorated and equipped. We only had an overnight stay but would happily return. The bonus was the restaurant, where we had a superb meal.

Amazing stay with Francoise and her husband! I stayed there on a bikepacking trip and found the accomodation just perfect in any way. Great communication before the visit with useful advice on restaurants and arrival, easy check-in and welcome. The room was very inviting and seemed newly renovated, and the bed was just perfect to get a well-deserved rest. Francoise even gave me a lift into town to one of the restaurants to make it there in time. However, the distance to the city center is still easily walkable. The breakfast the next morning was very generous and really delicious. Due to Covid restrictions, I had to take breakfast in the room, which was no problem though. I was able to store my bike securely in the shed, which was an additional benefit. The place also has a great view into the mountains and, when warmer, surely profits of the nice garden and pool.
Located in Die, Gîte d'étape d'Aurouses features accommodation 48 km from Vercors Regional Park.

It’s very small and compact. The sleeping area is tight, with bunk beds which, while we managed, are not ideal for older people.A sofa in the living area would convert to a double bed. Kitchen area well equipped. Lovely shower room.
It’s comfortable for two, but I would imagine that more than that would be a tight squeeze.
We love it here. Our 2nd visit. The location, although difficult to find, is fantastic. Just outside Die, rural and quiet.
Laurent the host is very nice.
Interesting small medieval village with lovely architecture...
Interesting small medieval village with lovely architecture and a river, but on balance a bit rundown with lots of loose dogs and dodgy-looking characters. Nowhere to eat so drove to Die, under ten miles away and some great and very reasonably priced food. Recommend the brasserie near the main parking.

Pontaix is a small historical village with an old fortress,...
Pontaix is a small historical village with an old fortress, now a ruin but accessible, that has historically dominated this part of the Drome where it passes through a narrow steep sided gorge. It is unspoilt. Sadly, the strategic bridges–mainly thanks to the war– are modern. A visit to the temple (former Hugenot church) is worthwhile but you need to phone for a key (the number is on the door– the manageress of the auberge helped us). It has some very early frescoes.
No shops or restaurants though - apart from the auberge
It is within easy reach of Die which is an old unspoilt regional town with narrow cobbled streets. The market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is worth visiting. Park just outside the walls and walk in.
If you are interested in nature - take a butterfly guide.
