Owners are impressively kind and helpful in every little detail. The place , rooms and facilities are just out of an old French movie (only that is actually real and still there for hundreds of year). Nonetheless the property is in perfect condition and clean with all kind of modern facilities. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. If we can it is in our priority list of places to return someday

Fantastic location, right in the heart of the village of books - the room even looked out on to the bookshop. The owner was delightful - welcoming and relaxed. Parking was free anywhere in the village, just a short walk from the accommodation. Loved the spacious room with its wooden floors, the writing desk and the armchairs for cosy reading. Great shower too - and a little fridge which was very much appreciated. Would definitely recommend.

Derek and Monique's apartment is simply fantastic. Nowadays, it's hard to find truly luxurious places, and this is one of those 5-star gems. Decorated with precision, with impeccable taste. The spaces are huge and comfortable. The room is truly a premium space, where the hosts have taken care of every single detail, from the incredibly comfortable mattress to the reading sofa. Thanks to Derek's kindness and cordiality, who welcomed us and introduced us to the apartment, we lacked nothing. If you love tranquility, the good life, and if you want to spend a few days surrounded by beauty and art, this place is for you, a corner of paradise where you can feel at home in one of the most beautiful villages in France.

We honestly cannot credit our stay here enough. The location is amazing, placed on the tranquil outskirts if Montolieu with amazing privacy but also a convenient and scenic 10 minute walk from the village itself. The pool was regularly cleaned, the surrounding outdoor areas were tidy and peaceful. The chalet itself was clean and comfortable. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful and very insightful regarding the surrounding area making our stay in this secluded area of the world run much more smoothly than anticipated.

We stayed for 4 nights. This is not a new 4 star hotel - it is a very old building with all its eccentric characteristics but if you want the experience of staying in an authentic family chateau home complete with its cats, dogs and horses then this is the one. The building is beautifully surrounded by trees and natural landscaping with a good well equipped pool area. Breakfast was served outside most mornings and was very relaxing. From the hotel you can visit many interesting places as well as walking in the surrounding area. The host Isabel was very welcoming and we would recommend the chateau for anyone looking for an authentic French chateau experience. Thank you Isabel for sharing your wonderful home in a truly magical place.

I would definitely recommend this place to anybody! I have never stayed in a place so clean and well taken care of. Also very nice to know that part of the house is part of the old rampart of the town and from the 500! It is in a beautiful state! It is clear the friendly owner Christina, is a real hostess who would like to give her guest the best possible experience. And everything you need is available. The breakfast was exceptionally delicious with homemade bread, croissants and jams and other nice stuff presented with lots of attention to detail. For dinner we were too late to have dinner at her place, but she had very good recommendations and helped us with making a reservation. On the way back we noticed how beautiful it is located against the mountain, in this cute mountain village.
We had the family room which was very spacious with very comfortable king size bed. Very nice the room with the two single beds, could be closed with a door when the kids were to bed. We were also here during a heat wave but the room was nicely cooled down with an aircon and extra fans available in the room.
She also had lots of recommendations on what to do in the surroundings, we would love to come back one day and probably stay for a bit longer!
Great place to visit for a couple of nights. Good varied restaurants, lots to see. Artistic village. Friendly. Everything does close on various days & lunch time. No cash points. Great swimming rock pools. Need a car for visiting surrounding areas.

We originally planned to stay at Maison Rives for 2 nights, but as soon as we got there, we booked for another 2 nights, as we liked it so much! Super authentic gîte and lovely, copious breakfast. Maison Rives is located in the heart of Montolieu and super easy access to all cafes and restaurants and tons of bookshops! The staff were super inviting and there are also loads of games to play in the lounge! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
Very chic in an old fashion way. This small city has a unique vibe. The rooms were nice, ful of old details. Very comfortable beds. This stay feels like going back in time. In a hotel and in a city as well. We stayed one night travelling through France and enjoyed it, since this was the experience we were looking for. The hosts are really nice and easy going.
