Space everywhere is impressive. Entrance hall and restaurant are particularly spacious and comfortable. Even our room (comfort), which was the smallest available, was enormous compared with other hotel rooms at this price point. Generally the space, decor and service support a feeling of luxurious 1920s extravagant comfort.

The room and bathroom were a bit basic. The location is very centric so the noise of the bars and restaurants in the town square could be heard until they closed (and the patrons went home) not ideal if you want to get some rest whilst on the road.
There was just a small fan in the room, and as we closed the small balcony door to avoid the noise, there was no respite from the heat.
We were charged twice the tourist tax, once whilst booking and once when we collected the keys.

I only arrived in Dax at 11 PM on a Tuesday and was happy to find a bar open to grab a beer. Just staying for the night, but walked the old city the following day to get a glimpse. I could have stayed in this lovely little city for a day with its historical vibe. Lots of spa and wellness facilities, if you're into that.

Hosts were really hospitable and kind, and supplied a delicious home made breakfast.
Bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom facilities were spotlessly clean.
An easy walk into the old town.
We enjoyed a 65km cycle into the surrounding countryside and watched a great game of Pro D2 rugby at Dax stadium.
Hôtel Le Relais Dax is situated in a very quiet area (few minutes walk from the old town). Although the rooms are relatively small, there is enough space. The rooms are clean and equipped with very comfortable beds. Friendly service and tasty breakfasts (paid extra). I would highly recommend!
