The whole concept is awesome (and yes there was an extra blanket for the bed for cool nights). The "buche" is beautifully laid out and the freedom of making a fire at night next to the barrel was just tremendous (wood was provided).
All was clean, worked well, and precisely what you could need, a fridge, a stove, a sink, coffee and tea facilities, and a shower with nice hot water instantly. The shower was smallish: 60cm by 60m I guess (maybe 55cm) Parking at premises in a tiny village. Lake nearby. The host was very welcoming.

The host went out of his way to inform myself and my children about ideas for hikes and other activities in the area. He even left a piece of local cheese for us to enjoy. The accommodation is perfect for parents and one or two children and the local area has lots to offer in terms of outdoor activities and locally produced food. The "cascade des Hérissons' is one of my favourite trails to do with kids - with scenery reminiscent of the King Arthur stories.

There is so much to do and see around the area of the Jura and Charchilla was a great base from which to see some amazing scenery. There are so many places to swim just on the doorstep we spent the whole weekend driving from lake to lake and waterfall to waterfall.
I can't recommend the Chalet enough me and my brothers had a great time there and hope to come back with our families next year.
