The month of May is not a good time to visit.
The month of May is not a good time to visit. The snow has gone but summer is not here yet. In this twilight zone between winter and summer it is just one of many tourist towns that is instantly forgettable. We regret we didn’t stay just across the border in Martigny which has so much culture that is completely lacking in Chamonix. The only visitors to this town seemed to be bucket-price tour groups from the far east.

I am slightly disabled in that my mobility is restricted by arthritis. Chamonix is a beautiful town in itself but it can be difficult to get around at night.I wanted to check out the live music scene but had real difficulty with transport.Although it is free,or cheap all day it is nearly impossible to get a taxi (unless I have been calling the wrong numbers!).I was told by some locals that they are tied up doing airport runs, how true this is I don't know. I think if you have similar problems then book a long time ahead or online.Otherwise the place is brilliant you have breathtaking views of the high mountains above, alpine meadows and a town that wants for nothing. It is easy to visit Les houches Argentiere and all the beautiful ski areas, even if you can't ski there are mountain railways and cable cars. Expensive but well with it. It is becoming my second home now.

A many time visitor, easy to get about on buses or train and some of the best off-piste there is anywhere. Looking forward to the re-opening of the top cable car so the biggest / best runs will be accessible once again. Perfect Location. Very central to do all activities in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The central bus station is right opposite the accommodation, very convenient to travel to near by villages and Geneva. I will give more than 5 stars for location. The view from the balcony is beautiful! Kitchen is well equipped , even has a dishwasher .
Reception staff is very very helpful and friendly. They will help adjust even if you are arriving in between reception opening times. All you need to do is to call them before hand and they are able to help.
I am on an extended Hike through the Alpes and every forth day or so as the situation dictates I get a hotel and do laundry, eat a nice dinner, go to the grocery store etc This place fit the bill. Great food and entertainment. The staff spoke decent English and large supermarket with a coin laundry was there only a mile or so away. Great breakfast also and as I hike with my dog it is pet friendly. Plus when you walk out the door you are looking up at the Mt Blanc mastiff-Stunning in its Grandeur.
This property suited us perfectly. A small but old ski lodge, very clean with double bed, kitchen and lounge. It was so close to teh centre of Chamonix, the train station and bus station. All this with a View of Mont Blanc out window. We loved it. We from Australia are hiking in France and Italy, and while it was not a five star modern hotel, it was five star with facilities and convenience. Our Host Elana gave us perfect directions to get there.
Free valley transport card provided on check-in- can use to travel free on trains and buses during your stay (bus stops pretty much outside). Staff were really helpful. Could walk to here from Chamonix Sud bus station. Quiet 4 bed mixed dorm. Had limited/basic kitchen facilities (I just used the fridge). Good value location, think it is cheaper to book direct. Seemed safe. First impression was that it is a bit rustic but I actually had a good stay.
It was the best hostel I ever stayed in!
The place was clean, just next to the ski slopes.
The staff were super kind and awesome ❤️ the woman at the reception helped me with finding skiiing and hikes! I appreciated that a lot.
The price was perfect!
Also they had a nice restaurant!
I highly recommend this hostel. If there are more than 5 stars I would put :)
Thank you!
Samir
The three staff who we came across two days were amazing. Specially the 2 girls at check-in. The hotel has no lift and we were staying on the 3rd floor with 2 huge suitcases. One of the girl offered to help us carry them, which we thought were 5 star customer service! And after we checked out I left my ear rings in the room so the girl called me to notify me.
The hotel is clean, beautiful, and has a lot of space. I went to the spa, it's nice and modern. The staff of the hotel were friendly and smiling. The hotel has a motive of books; they have shelves of books in the rooms and in the lobby, which give some character to the hotel (I haven't found something I like in English, though).
Location: The best! In the centre od Chamonix. Room: Mont Blanc room wast the best choice for us (family of 4) - amazing view! It was like a small flat, not room :) Service: We apreciated tea and coffee for free. Hotel: Old furnitured, but this is understandable. We liked hotel club for evening meetings with our friends.
Nicely renovated hotel reserving the history of the building, plenty of great restaurants, plenty of entertainment, choreographed dance shows. Bed was very comfortable. Good value for money, considering the location was close to the Main Street. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Very charming hotel in the "chalet" style. Conveniently located near the train station and with a parking. Great view from the upper floor bedroom on Mont Blanc. Good breakfast and comfortable room. Super friendly and attentive staff.
Great hotel with amazing view from the room and charming sitting area. Room is clean and cozy; bed is very comfortable. The personel is helpful and kind. Thanks a lot for upgrading our room. We will be definitely back!
