Great location to castle and walking distance into town. The staff were very helpful and always greeted you when they saw you. They even offered an umbrella for our friends when it was raining. Well done to staff. Great view from the bar rooftop overlooking the castle. Definitely worthwhile sitting up there at sunset.

Most visitors to Carcassonne come here for one thing: to see its fairytale, UNESCO World Heritage-listed castle sitting majestically on a hill east of the city.
Spectacularly lit at night, this Cité is a restored medieval fortress with 52 towers, 2 outer walls covering almost 2 miles, and a drawbridge providing access to a keep. Twice daily there are medieval jousting displays between the walls. This intriguing castle has enchanted so many that it has appeared in novels, films and even spawned a board game.
Some Carcassonne hotels, bars and restaurants can be found in the Cité but the majority are in the Ville Basse below. The stone Old Bridge, also lit at night, links it to the city centre over the Aude River.
Central Carcassonne also has its own sights including the fine art museum and the cathedral with its impressive stained-glass windows. But its best feature is the South of France way of life, with relaxed bars and pavement cafes, some serving the local speciality – cassoulet. Other slow-paced attractions include boat trips along the Canal du Midi and visiting villages like Minerve in the surrounding hills.
Served by national and low cost carriers, Carcassonne Airport is a mere 3 miles out of the city centre.

The medieval town i thought was quite touristy , good fun though. We enjoyed a walk along the ramparts and the views are spectacular. We stayed in the old town and had a glass or two of Ricard overlooking the canal. We ate in the Moroccan restaurant and it was fabulous. we only spent one night in Carcassonne but we thoroughly enjoyed it. x

Fantasticly preserved medieval city but now very touist centric. Limited food choice if your vegetarian or even just rying to eat healthy. La Bastide in the lower city is worth exploring and has more choice. To get the best of a stay longer than a weekend you need a car.

Carcassonne is a UNESCO sight.
Carcassonne is a UNESCO sight. It is the biggest fortified medieval city of its kind in Europe. It is worth your while to come and walk the narrow cobbled stone streets of the city. ....the stone walls....the old signs.....etc. It is filled with tourist shops.....and many restaurants. Try the traditional "cassoulet"! The streets are winding. They are not straight! So, be adventurous. Know that you will get lost at one point! Don't be disheartened.....you'll quickly find yourself. ;) We took the time to walk in the evening outside the walls. We took some epic photos of the sun setting on the fortified city. Set aside one day for this unique experience. :)

Seeing the medieval city (Cite de Carcassonne) was a bucket...
Seeing the medieval city (Cite de Carcassonne) was a bucket list item for me. I don't regret going, but there's not much else to recommend in the way of tourist attractions in Carcassonne. Could have been a weekend stop rather than the whole week we gave it. The Cite itself has wonderful architecture (not so accurately restored, we were told). The church was an unexpected highlight. The rest was lovely to look at, but full of tourist shops. If you weren't shopping, there wasn't much to do there.
We stayed in a lovely updated apartment in the Bastide de Saint Louis, a very old part of the city. Walking distance to the Cite and everything in the town. Interesting, lots of lovely old buildings.
We saw the Canal du Midi on one of the boat tours available near the train station. Not recommended. There wasn't much to see - no scenic countryside because the vegetation that grows along the canal blocks most of the chance for any view. The highlight of the trip was a stop at a spot where we could take photos of the Cite de Carcassonne. To be fair, you could see it, in the distance. With a bunch of not so scenic buildings and not so appealing vegetation in the foreground. And we were only there for a very brief time. The price of the tour was low, so at least it was a pleasant boat ride.

The old city has so much charm and atmosphere in abundance with lovely restaurants and shops. The views from the ramparts across the whole area were amazing. The castle is spectacular and well worth visiting
We had a lovely trip on the Canal du Midi, the weather was beautiful and it was so relaxing.
There is plenty to see and enjoy in Carcassonne. It's well worth a visit!!
I cannot more highly recommend this little hotel. The location is a stones throw from the castle and the old city. The host was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, he mapped out great restaurants, and the best routes to walk the city. Breakfast was ample and filling. The room was very clean and the perfect size for us. I will definitely stay here again, and recommend to my friends and family.
Location in town centre, close to train station and airport bus stop and 25min easy walking to Medieval city. My room was very generous space wise, size of the apartment with the kettle and fridge in room. Breakfast was nice with good selection and high quality of food. For 2 star budget hotel excellent. I definitely stay in same hotel, when I come back to Carcassone
Perfectly located apartment within short walking distance to the medieval city and city of Carcassonne. Quiet, well equipped and excellent terrace to enjoy the sunshine. Secure parking was a huge benefit and communication with Florence was a breeze. Highly recommend staying at this apartment when visiting Carcassonne!
To start with I proposed to my girlfriend on the walls of Carcassonne so it was a very romantic stay. The hotel is lovely, very comfy beds, lovely staff and parking onsite right next to the medieval city. All the facilities were available for our stay to be truly memorable.
The location is a short walk to the old city and the views from the hotel are beautiful. We arrived late due to delayed train. Th hotel made sure we could get in and find a restaurant. Breakfast is great. It’s our second time here. I hope we can return. Merci beaucoup !!!
The location was excellent. It was inside of the old city. Also, we found the parking service helpful, it is very close to the old city, and they can drive you to the hotel. The service and the staff were very nice too. The viewer from our room had a good view.
It’s situation in the bastide. It has character and the view from the window of the illuminated medieval city was spectacular. The owners had thought of everything down to a first aid kit and insect spray. Truly an appartment, not a hotel appartment.
Walking distance to the medieval city and old town. The room was big, comfortable and the children loved the bunkbeds. The hotel decor is fun, with lots of references to knights and Cavaliers. Parking is free of charge. The breakfast was good.
Perfect location within a 5 minute walk of the Old City. The view of the Old City from the hotel was breathtaking. The room was spotlessly clean and met our needs for this trip. Staff were very helpful and cheerful.
The entire hotel has been completely refurbished post-pandemic, even the AC is brand new, and the interior design is wonderful! You will get a unparalleled view of the old city wall from the 10 m2 roof terrace.
loved the location -so close to the old city and the medieval city. Free parking on the street close to the accommodation. The accommodation was beautifully presented and our room was so lovely and comfortable
Very nice view from balcony over Carcassone. The host was helpful and talkative, he provided us with the best croissants from a local bakery shop. His place has got super comfy beds and was clean :-)
Beautiful historical house within walking distance of the old town, the medieval city & the canal du midi. Lovely cool air conditioned room & gorgeous breakfast served in the courtyard garden.
Stylish, calm and very professional, this small hotel is located just outside the (better) gate to awesome Carcassonne old city. Staff was helpful, our time here was very enjoyable.
We had a very large room which was very comfortable and the hotel is very close to the old city. The hotel restaurant was excellent too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
What a great place to stay inside the walled city. Everything about this hotel (restaurant, reception, bar, terrace) is top notch. we enjoyed the quiet pool on hot afternoons.
