Quiet in a convenient rural location. Great breakfast with homemade stewed fruit and yoghurt…delicious, for €8. Room was as expected, clean with a comfortable bed. Easy drive to Cambo Les Bains for a meal. Host was friendly and showed us the pelato basque court in the hotel and we had a go. Great fun. A very pretty village with white houses with reddish trim.

We had booked here for 3 nights, and loved it so much, we stayed longer! This was honestly the highlight of our trip to the Basque country! Not sure what we did to deserve it, but we were upgraded to the most incredible apartment with walk-in closet, office, lounge, huge bedroom and TWO bathrooms - one with a double shower and the other a full bath. Just sheer luxury.
The decor is French country, really classic and clean, balanced with beautiful antique pieces. We had a large patio overlooking the mountains and close to the pool. A delight to wake up to (and admire the bright stars at night)!
We had dinner twice at the restsurant, and loved it all. The staff really make this property what it is. The times the restaurant was not open. We went a short way doen the hill to a local restaurant, which was perfect. The pool is nice and big and the jacuzzi such a treat. There is also a sauna, but we did not use it.
The breakfast is wonderful. Dont miss it. Homemade quiche, tarts, Basque cake.... yummy!!!!!!
All in all, this is now our number one destination, and we cant wait to return. Relax. And repeat. Thank you to everyone for the memories.
It’s a beautiful village. Peaceful. Clean. Lovely shops and cafes and restaurants. We arrived on a day that the restaurant was closed in our hotel (Monday) which was a shame as we had heard it was exceptional…. We decided to stay another day because it was so relaxing and we had been journeying for a week from Madrid…!
Unfortunately yhe restaurabt was closed on Tuesday too 😢
But do stay in room 103 with its balcony kitchen living room and gorgeous views over the valley.

Excellent location and excellent level of services for this comfy and cozy Hotel. Large bedroom, with Sofa chair, and table good quality of mattress, clean bathroom with a useful heating system to dry towels... . The bedroom had also a mini kitchen with fridge/ microwave and coffee machine! This accommodation exceeded our expectations.
excellent hotel, tres confortable/niveau de service remarquable. la chambre etait spacieuse, calme et offrait meme la possibilite de faire une petite dinette (kitchenette)
The food was exceptional, and everything about the establishment shows a window into its history.
A picture in the dining room was of a court at the front of the hotel where 'hand ball' is played (the description used in Ireland). I had the pleasure of viewing the local variant of the game as I stepped outside the front door.
Hospitality from the owner, Philippe and staff were first class! Consider it like a bed and breakfast, cozy and intimate! The breakfast is not to be missed. Fresh pastries, meats, cheeses, juices and a variety of breakfast items including delicious coffee and teas. Rivals any 5 star hotels’ breakfast! Parking is included.
We have stayed at Hotel-cafe du trinquet for many years now and the service is always impecable. Spacious family rooms, very clean and well located in a very nice village. Everything we wish for after driving a number of hours on our trip. This year the service was once more excellent.
