Biarritz is a big place and if you arrive by train you'll need a bus or €15 taxi to get to the Old Port or sea front. The town is well maintained and clean, full of bars and restaurants of all kinds, small shops and a busy Les Halles indoor market. Miles of walkways along the promenade, beaches and rocky headlands, well supplied with benches to rest, people-watch and look at the view. Surfing on the Grande Plage, calm bathing in the Petite Plage. Great place for a few days holiday. Bring good shoes - it is not built on flat ground!

Cite de l'Ocean was an amazing VR experience, we had a joint ticket with the Aquarium which was also good. You could easily spend half a day at Cite de l'Ocean. Biarritz has some grand buildings and would have great views on a sunnier day. The view from the lighthouse is stunning, so worth the climb. We enjoyed the Musee Asiatique, everywhere we visited catered well for British visitors. Buses were easy to use, we found lots of great Basque restaurants.

Biarritz has long enjoyed a reputation for glamour and...
Biarritz has long enjoyed a reputation for glamour and monied high-class living. Many of the shops certainly cater for this sort of visitor, but there were plenty of what might be termed 'ordinary' tourists, who could enjoy the stunning vistas and beautiful locations along the coast. Don't miss the Port Des Pecheurs.
It is very easy to achieve a day trip to San Jean De Luz by using the (exceptionally cheap and easy to use) local bus service (Txik Txak) that operates in the region.
The town never felt overrun, nor underused. The beaches are very clean and well managed. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, with prices for every pocket.
Also, the footprint of Biarritz is pretty compact so that those without mobility issues are able to explore and spend time in the well-ordered shopping locations, the public gardens and the cafes and restaurants.
A special mention for the beautifully turned out (covered) market: well worth a visit and a stop for coffee, pastries or crepes.
Finally, the ocean creates great conditions for surfing, an activity clearly enjoyed by the locals as well as visitors.
The staff was graciously friendly even with the small language barrier. The Wi-Fi was great. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean and the air conditioner in the room worked wonderfully. The location was fantastic as many restaurants were close by and it was a short walk to the beach. If you are planning on traveling low key and want a pleasant place to stay that is no frills and no stress I would recommend Hotel Oxo.
My room and the bed and bedding in particular were very comfortable. The hotel is also very close to the terminal of Biarritz Airport, no more than a six or seven minute walk. Very convenient for staying close to the airport the night before an early flight. The bar and restaurant (plus outdoor terrace) are also attractive and comfortable.
Is this a 5 star hotel? No it's a lovely 3 star...so you know what to expect.
Is it a beautiful period quaint building? Yes it is.
Is it convenient to get about? Yes it is ...in a very nice area of Biarritz only 10 minutes walk from the Gran Plage.
Are the staff helpful? Yes Aurelie couldn't have been more helpful and kind.
Really close to town. Wonderful staff- we were personally shown to our room and given lots of recommendations. Really lovely room- seemed brand new and such a bonus to have a terrace to use and a view of the sea from our window. Felt like a 4-5 star hotel.
The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They made me feel instantly comfortable and even went out of their way to get me gluten free bread when they learned I had a wheat allergy. The room was spotless and it's close to everything Biarritz has to offer.
What a great surprise! We were expecting a standard big hotel and what we got was a beautiful art-deco, boutique hotel, in the heart of Biarritz. And most of all, the staff were great - helpful and eager to please.
Perfect location for experience Biarritz. Near all relevant beaches, restaurants, café and a lovely food market just outside of the hotel. The view from the hotel is astonishing, looking out to the Atlantic ocean.
This hotel is on a great location on a pedestrian avenue close to the small beach in town. The rooms are clean and quiet and walking distance to all the major attractions.
It is a place with very nice atmosphere, well equipped kitchen and nice and helpful staff. If I would be again in Biarritz I would definitely stay again in this house.
Very charming boutique hotel with a lovely hostess. A homely charm with personality which we can recommend for travelers who get tired of ordinary hotels!
Very nice place in Biarritz. Ocean view. Hotel location and hotel's parking lot. Swimming pool with good water temperature. 5 minutes walk to ocean beach.
