Booked only 45 minutes before arrival, but we were welcomed enthusiastically and everything was ready for our stay.
We had a great evening meal and a fresh breakfast, so fresh he went to the bakers to get the bread and croissants.

Lovely garden, hot shower, fabulous breakfast - cold meats and cheese, as well as the usual. Dinner jars were tasty - we had the cassoulet and bœuf bourgignon - though could have been a bit bigger for hungry walkers.

We loved everything about this property. The location is amazing. The view over the river beneath the property is beautiful, peaceful and exceptional.
The hosts were incredibly hospitable. Alan and Ina went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help us. My wife’s bag had gone missing on the flight into France and they were very sympathetic and accommodating, supporting us with our plans and arrangements to finally recover the bag when it was found.
They went out of their way to help us when we Needed to return our hire car and move onto the Canal boat. They could not have done more to help us at all. We are very grateful for all that they did.
Fontenoy Le Château is a beautiful town and is a must see destination. We would certainly go out of our way to return and stay with Alan and Ina again.
Being the true English gentleman, Alan made sure to have some cold beers available in the fridge when we arrived. We then enjoyed very much their company in the evening as we sat around the table outside overlooking river and consumed many more beers and some lovely local wine.
Alan is a history buff and gave us some good advice on visiting the US Army war memorial at Epinal nearby.

This is a pleasant country house hotel in a lovely wooded valley setting on the edge of town. The annex is somewhat lacking in charm but we acknowledge that this is reflected in the price when compared to rooms in the main hotel. We felt welcome on arrival and the staff were attentive throughout. The extensive garden is a real delight and we had a very good breakfast outside sitting under a mature walnut tree. The restaurant was pleasingly busy and the food was excellent. The chef seems to have opted for a short menu format presumably in order to sustain his high standards as against providing a wider choice for residents staying for several nights.
The hotel is located in Park with amazing views.

The air around you is so fresh and clear, that you literally can taste it!
But the breakfast in the hotel was unforgettable.
The chef Gael is amazing artist!
And the hostess Nina is very welcoming.
Rooms are clean and comfortable.
We loved that the place is located far away from big cities.
Very friendly and accommodating hosts; they did everything to make our stay enjoyable. They are restoring the hotel and luckily keeping the original charme with sufficient modernisation. We did not expect to be able to have dinner at the hotel as we arrived relatively late, but the hosts made this possible anyhow. The dinner was very nice.
This is definitely a place to return to.
Located just a short walk away from a fabulous forest, this hotel is a marvel. The rooms are big, the bathrooms are spacious, and everything is clearly decorated and appointed with love. This hotel is a destination, not just a stopover on a journey.
The new owner is an excellent cook and he and and his wife are nice and kind hosts. The renovation of the hotel is not completely finished but even now it is good place to stay
