Location great for our needs. Easy access by bike trail. Restaurants, supermarket, nearby. very quiet, very roomy, nicely decorated, clean, comfortable. Loved the private deck with picnic furniture and lounge chairs. Deck opens to a very nice rose garden. The hostess is very attentive and responsive to requests. Very enjoyable breakfasts. H

Amazing location in the snow capped Pyrenees mountains. It was situated in a magical tinny Spanish village made of stone that escorts you back into a much older world of villagers and sheep hurters. The Inn had a marvelous restaurant with an accomplished chef offering breakfast and dinner that they willingly tailor to you likes and dislikes and then there’s their wine list not to mention the friendliest, efficient, staff who made the meal seem effortless. The amazing poolside views of the Pyrenees as you are basking in the sun is right out of a travel magazining.
Hotel du Lion dOr is was built in the 19th century and is one of the oldest hotels in Cauterets. This family-run hotel offers you a warm and friendly welcome.

The owners of Hotel du Lion d'Or were fantastic! Very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice, spacious, clean. We slept great in the nice comfy bed and enjoyed having the refrigerator and coffee maker in the room! Breakfast was amazing with delicious pastries, fresh meats and cheeses, fresh squeezed juice and homemade jams! They also serve dinner in the dinning room which we dined in one night. It was a 4 course meal of soup, salad, entrée(it was duck) and dessert. All were made by the owner and exceeded our expectations. Be sure to make a reservation for the dinner. We were lucky to hit a night that they were not booked, another night we tried but could not as all the tables had already been reserved! Darn! The town is lovely and very convenient for walking to the many shops and restaurants. We drove our car and were able to find parking just around the back side of the hotel. We hiked in the Pyrenees National Park and in a few other areas. The town of Cauterets is a great location for hiking in the area and the Hotel du Lion d"Or is a great place to stay, 4 stars!!
