I was on the 6th floor facing away from the town. Clearly the view would have been better on the other side but I was not in the room a lot. Breakfast was adequate and met my needs. I did se some people struggling to get an omelette but this was eventually resolved.

My favorite city, will retire there in 2026.
I am a New Yorker of Basque descent, my roots are from the neighboring village of Sestao however as a New Yorker, I prefer the city life as opposed to the suburban life hence my decision to retire in Bilbao---the mini-New York

Bilbao is a fab spot with loads of gorgeous little tapas bars and cute little streets. Unfortunately we had two small children with us and it is definitely not a child friendly city, we couldn’t even find a normal restaurant apart from KFC to get dinner for them. In saying that I would definitely come back again to sample all the lovely tapas and wine minus the kids ;-)

A busy, handsome city with character and an excellent public transport system. The Guggenheim is an obvious highspot, but don't miss the world's first transporter bridge, the narrow streets of the Casca Nuevo, the amazing range of pintxos either in the bars or, particularly, the Ribera market.

Right from the start Bilbao rose in my top favorite cities...
Right from the start Bilbao rose in my top favorite cities in Spain (after Barcelona where I live and Valencia which is my second option). It's a big city with a lot of things to do and see. It has both big avenues with large buildings and malls but it also has the old city narrow streets you would find in any european city. It is a bit puzzling to be that the city wasn't developed starting from the sea side inwards instead it actually a bit upstream on the river Nervion. The Guggenheim museum is a feat in itself and hosts quite a few modern art pieces from Basquiat or Warhol if you're into that kind of thing.
If you're lucky enough to be there during the Aste Nagustia, you will get fireworks for about 5 evening straight, about 10 different music stages and all of this in a beautiful old city center.

Great city - The Guggenheim was fantastic and great...
Great city - The Guggenheim was fantastic and great exhibitions. Great choice of places to eat in Bilbao. Definitely good for a city break. The only issue is that I hadn’t anticipated how much it would rain. The city is geared up for it but make sure you take a raincoat, waterproof shoes and an umbrella! Didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves.

Bilbao is all about the Guggenheim as far as I am concerned.
Bilbao is all about the Guggenheim as far as I am concerned. The “old town” is grubby and a far cry from the old town and beautiful streets of San Sebastián. Definitely come for the Guggenheim - it is totally worth it - but I’d only stay in Bilbao long enough to see the museum.
Incredible room in a really lovely hotel. Clean and spacious with a great balcony overlooking the fountains in the park, and anything you might need in the room available. Hotel is in a really nice area close to the Guggenheim and an easy walk to the old town and funicular. The man who checked us in was great (I think his name was Zigor) and told us some history of Bilbao alongside a great restaurant recommendation.
Friendliness of your staff - size and design of the room - great location so close to everything that is important in Bilbao such as the Guggenheim Museum, the city, the river, the old town, etc.
There is a lot of open space around the hotel, nice to walk around, even at night. Never had any concerns about safety. Easy to reach by car. The perfect hotel for a few days to discover this great city.
Very well located hotel right at the river and in walking distance to everything in Bilbao (both Guggenheim / New Town as well as Old Town), the staff was friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable and we came by car and parked in the garage - which is a bit narrow but manageable, so that was useful, even if a bit expensive (you get a small discount if a hotel guest).
Great hotel in Bilbao. Fernando was so helpful - wonderful information with great tips for eating and sight seeing. His knowledge of the city was first class. The room was clean, comfortable and serviced daily. Shower had good pressure. Beds were on the firm side but not a problem for us. Location was close to the market and old town.
Have stayed in two other hotels on previous trips to Bilbao and this is arguably the best. Great location near to both the old town, Poza and also Ledesma. The room was spacious and had everything one needed. Staff were friendly.
