Breakfast was really good and very nicely presented. I also liked the wood fire in the room and the help I was given to keep it going in the evening. The staff were very friendly and attentive and helped me with arranging a taxi to a different view point.

The hostel is a bit outside quilotoa but only a 7 min walk. They give you a lot of blankets and a heater which you need as it's cold! However, one of the best nights of sleep ever! The guy who worked there was really nice and very polite and made us simple but tasty meals!

Hostal Mamá Hilda, hotel in Quilotoa

Hostal Mamá Hilda features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Chugchilán. With free WiFi, this 5-star hotel offers a shared kitchen and a concierge service.

The staff is really friendly: they do remind me on a couple of grandparents who want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. After traveling 3 weeks through Ecuador this place has by far the nicest rooms we have seen. They are spacious, new and very nice decorated providing all facilities you need. The owner of the hotel provided dinner in the evening which was really good at a very fair price. Communication was a bit hard because they don't speak English very well, but the owners are very open and willing to help.

Amazing hostal on the Quilotoa loop (where they are also doing a fantastic job at signposting!). We felt really at home and learned a lot about local life. The room was spacious, comfy and clean and we had great dinner and breakfast, even sampling some local blueberry wine.

Hostal Doña Clarita & Vegetarían Food, hotel in Quilotoa

Hostal Doña Clarita & Vegetarían Food is a recently renovated homestay in Chugchilán, where guests can make the most of its open-air bath and garden.

There was something so warm and friendly about this family. Large bedroom - even had fleecy bed sheets which were great as it was cold! Great, plentiful meals. Nice cosy communal space and they lit the fire as we sat and enjoyed the free coffee and cookies. Fabulous value and a real favorite whilst on Quilotoa Loop.

This is a must see beautiful place.

This is a must see beautiful place. The drive to Quiatola has some of the most spectacular views in Ecuador. The views at Quiatola are breathtaking. Be prepared to pay a nominal per person fee to get into the park at Quiatola.

The Princessa Tia Hotel is the place to stay in Quilatoa,...

The Princessa Tia Hotel is the place to stay in Quilatoa, best location, great breakfast, large room and bathroom, very clean and comfortable bed. But the best feature is the rooms all have an electric heater. Quilatoa is cold, so the benefit of the heater, which is rare to find anywhere in Ecuador, is amazing! The rim hike is beautiful but steep and slippery in places. Poles would be a good idea. The hike down to the lake is surprisingly long, steep and slippery. There are horses or mules that can take you back up for $10 pp. Get out early as the fog moves in around 4pm and obscures visibility of the lake. The sun in the morning makes the water’s colors amazing. You can take a kayak out or go for a motorized ride in a zodiac. The town is tiny and closes up early so don’t delay going to dinner. There are no pharmacies or banks and only 1 ATM which wouldn’t work with our card. Also, be careful because there are no gas stations for the entire Quilatoa Loop. Fill up before heading up either route to Quilatoa.

We were in Quitoloa during the low season. Not too crowded :) Accommodations at Cuchirawa Hostel were directly across from the crater. Ample free parking; we walked everywhere. Enjoyed a post-hike beer at a restaurant on the crater ridge.

The Quilotoa Loop was absolutely worth every step!

The Quilotoa Loop was absolutely worth every step! For sure start from Sigchos so you can have the lagoon as a reward after 3 days of difficult hiking. The hikes were beautiful (although rather steep) and a fantastic way to reach Quilotoa.

The views were breathtaking and amazing; there was a 6hr hike around the rim with a few areas the path made you doubt what you were doing but overall it was worth it; the hike down to the water takes about 30-40 minutes and 1-1.5hrs to hike out - I am not an avid hiker and it took me 2hrs to climb back up. The trail is slippery and hiking poles were beneficial. I'd love to go back and do the 4 days hike around.

Trekked the Quilotoa loop. It was amazing!

Trekked the Quilotoa loop. It was amazing! the views are fantastic and it is a medium difficulty hike. The only problem was coming down the highest point. It is incredibly slippery and there is nothing to hang on to. The ground is loose dirt so one has to be VERY careful.

There were stains on the towels and bedding but the down comforters were nice and honestly a must have because it gets close to 0 degrees C at night. It was the most expensive hostel by far during my trip so I expected it to be cleaner but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'd recommend just taking a day trip to Quilotoa instead of staying there as it's a town built solely around tourism and there's not much besides the lagoon.

We had just walked from Chugchilan and it was super cloudy, cold and was just about to rain so the property's location right as the trail from Chugchilan enters Quilotoa was great. The room had a stove which they will light for you (only after dinner) which helps make the room cozy. The breakfast was nice but not too big. Large communal area downstairs with hammocks but was too cold to sit in it for long.

The family is sweet and welcoming; Breakfast and dinner were filling and comforting; Location is very close to the Laguna - we did the hike around the crater; We had the hostel to ourselves with another couple for 1 night so it was very peaceful and quiet; A fire was lit in our room at night as it gets pretty cold in Quilotoa; Hot water in the shower is always a plus!

Lovely place for a short stay around Quilotoa. The meals were great, wifi worked great and the host lit the fireplace in the room for us. Also, important to note that we got stuck in a roadblock dew to bad weather, so we have arrived a night after the planned date and the host understood and did not charge for the unfortunate change

The hosts, Doña Ester y Don Gonzalo, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. They prepared a firewood for us and we had a delicious supper in their company, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Hostal Rosita is on the track linking Quilotoa to Chugchilan, about 500 meters from the village of Guyama San Pedro.

The hotel is located right across from one of the best views of Quilotoa crater lake. It was very convenient to access the hiking trails. The shower was great; hot with good water pressure. The staff tried hard to be helpful; it is obviously a local family run business.
