Johanna and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and friendly, they did everything they could to ensure you have a comfortable stay.
The included breakfast was very very good - guests are given a menu to choose from each morning.
Rooms are clean and tidy. The gardens and surrounds give the place a really relaxed vibe and make it a great place to work remotely from.
WIFI is good, showers are hot, 3 minute walk to the beach.
Overall great value for money. Not much more you could ask for.

Ayampe is a quiet and extremely safe location. It is next to the Colibri trail which is one of the best birdwatching locations in Ecuador. This small place has a range of excellent restaurants which are very reasonably priced. It has good surfing available and the beach is fantastic and very quiet.

Ayampe is a beautiful little coastal town with an amazing beach and really good surf break. There are a number of lovely cafes and a great surfboard hire business, Otra. The locals are really friendly and it’s a perfect place to escape for a week or two to chill out and enjoy the simple things in life. There is plenty to do around the region including exploring the local fishing towns, visit Machalilla National Park, Los Frailes beach is really lovely and beautiful clear blue water. In Purto Lopez there is the most amazing artisanal chocolate shop, Pacha Chocolate Boutique. Veronica Alvarez does an amazing job making exceptional chocolate, Alfajores and brownies. It’s a must go to for anyone who likes chocolate.
The place was perfect, just as pictured, very clean and comfortable. The common kitchen was excellent, and we used it several times to prepare meals. The provided breakfast was very enjoyable as well!
Franziska, the owner, and her staff were all amazing and extremely helpful. The coastline in Ayampe was fantastic and fun to explore, although, we picked a cold and wet time of the year to visit and we’re attacked by mosquitos while out in the evenings. that being said, Ganso & Buho was a great retreat and we definitely felt at home.
The property is perfectly located at the beach front, which makes it an ideal location. The staff was really friendly and efficient. The on-premises restaurant is fairly good, and the option to have food brought up to the second floor balcony was the perfect way to enjoy your meals.
If you are into surfing, the property has surf boards for rent and you can book classes with them. Also, the common areas make for a pleasant chat with people staying at the hotel.
Ayampe is a little village where people come for surfing and nature. Very quiet place, so please don't expect some kind of Hilton style accomodations. Our cabana was simple, but nice. I particularly appreciated hot shower with great pressure and mosquito nets!!!

A beach (super clean) is only a block away from the property. Great tide pools there too!!!
Manolo is a lovely and helpful host who created a beautiful, peaceful home with privacy yet proximity to town, beach and tiendas. The layout of the space is great; the kitchen is well-stocked and a nice bonus! Also the terrace is very peaceful. Extremely comfortable bed, hot & cold shower and tastefully decorated. It was ideal for a little taste of life in Ayampe. I would highly recommend to stay here.
Really lovely place to stay in Ayampe. We had a quadruple room with an external private bathroom. The room was very large and the bathroom was cleaned every day. There was hot water for showers. The kitchen / common facilities were good. Well located - very short walk to beach / restaurants / bars / shops etc.
We had a great time in Ayampe. The loft is very clean, stylishly furnished and the kitchen is super equipped - we missed nothing! Zoi is the best host we have had so far - helpful, open and responsive to any request!
We felt very comfortable and would come back anytime - thank you Zoi! :)
the Manager was fantastic. she was very helpful with local advice. the breakfast was great. the gardens were great. it was a fantastic stay and Ayampe was excellent too. communication from the manager is excellent if any issue or question at all
I’m glad I read the reviews before booking my stay because it did not disappoint. if you’re looking to ground yourself with nature surrounded by raw elements of the environment, than here’s the place you want to stay whilst visiting Ayampe!
Drove through dirt road full of water. Got stuck once. When I got to hotel it was closed. Why keep booking page open if you are not even in business. Called no answer. Doors were shut at 7pm. Out of business
The staff are attentive - very helpful with all my inquiries. Their restaurant served excellent Italian food. The property, gardens and rooms are well taken care of. Highly recommended as a stay while in Ayampe.

we had the best time at Spondylus, Mari is the nicest guy and made sure we had everything we needed. it is beautiful, super clean, and very relaxing. best place we have stayed in Ecuador!
