The hotel was closed on mondays but they’d made easy provisions so I could get my key with no fuss. There is a balcony from which I enjoyed watching swifts engage in shenanigans centred around what appeared to be their sleeping spot under the rain drain of the building opposite. There were some disagreements about which swifts were and weren’t welcome there and some birdfights and amazing aerial acrobatics ensued. The room is lovely and dark at night and the breakfast is good.

The chef is amazing! We had the best main course of duck that we have ever had!!!! That and the very cozy atmosphere of the hotel and its restaurant made the stay very memorable!

Convenient stop off en route to Austria. Although on the main road, had a pretty river behind with walks straight into the forest. Wildlife amazing - beavers on the river bank came to be fed by the back door!
Restaurant good, food tasty and reasonably priced. Generous portions, good quality. Breakfast also very good and opened early by request.

Annette greeted us very warmly and made sure that we were able to eat out at the restaurant of our choice in the evening. Sumptuous breakfast. We would wish to have stayed longer to enjoy the garden and the surroundings of Hinterweidenthal.
Straightforward hotel for a night's stay. It's quirky, which we like. Food in the evening was hearty, and breakfast was well above standard. Location is on our route and near the road, but the room was silent.
This is our fifth time in this beautiful apartment and our eighth time in Frauenstein over the years. Friendly staff. Good breakfast and food. Great location to walk to Hinterweidenthal and the devils table.
A charming and convivial roadside hotel restaurant. Excellent staff - we had to book at very last minute and they were very welcoming and accommodating.
