We stayed here for 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. Johnny (I think he is the owner or manager), could not have been more hospitable. He welcomed us with a coffee and snacks after a long journey from Nicaragua. He arranged a room with 2 single beds into a double room with air conditioning even though the hotel was busy. He also helped us with transport and recommendations for activities, as well as showing and telling us about all the wildlife that surrounds the hotel. He is so kind. The hotel is very cute and comfortable. The breakfast was filling and delicious, and you eat it whilst sat outside listening to the birds and nature. Would absolutely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Finca Amistad. The highlight of our visit was Lidia, a lovely lady who greeted us at check-in and made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. Though she didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Spanish, her warmth and attentiveness truly touched our hearts.
We also liked the chocolate tour, although I personally wished our guide had been a bit more enthusiastic. For someone experiencing cacao beans for the first time, I think there’s more that could be shared about the process and the magic of chocolate (this wasn’t our first cacao tour, so we had higher expectations).
We especially loved the animals—the cat and the dogs that joined us during breakfast and dinner. The cat was so friendly and added an extra charm to our experience.

Itza is an amazing host! We arrived way passed the check-in time due to public transport delays and Itza stayed up to welcome us with a snack and keys. Much appreciated! Also we got loads of useful tips and tricks on exploring Rio Celeste. I would absolutely stay here again

Beautiful rainforest area, very quiet, tranquil and very remote. If you want to do hikes or tours, plan the rates for entrance-fees and guides in advance, they tried to take a bit of advantage of us charging us a lot of $$$

Upala is a wonderful part of the country, partly because it is so much less visited. The wildlife/cacao/waterfalls/volcanoes - are all wonderful.
go to las hornillas, have a hot tub in a volcanic crater, get some almost good cheese. go sit in a waterfall and let nature massage you.
