San Gil was a really enjoyable town despite not doing adventure tours. We loved the park for the birds and red squirrels. The town square was interesting to sit, with good restaurants and bars nearby.

San Gil is very turistic and influenced by that. Excellent opportunities for recreation and extreme sports, but the horrid traffic can impact travel. The main route from Bogota' to Bucaramanga goes right through it and can really congest the streets. These are old "horse" cart roads in town and the traffic can be "impressive" and difficult to manage. Quaint charm with amenities, a commercial mall and plenty of food and drink around the central park.

San Gil as a town is not particularly interesting.
San Gil as a town is not particularly interesting. It's for the adventure activities that one comes. We went rafting on Río Suárez with Colombia Rafting Expediciones and I can only recommend them - professional, well-organised team that guides you through the Class 5 rapids while keeping safety always in mind.

We were only here for a day. We went rafting on the river, and visited El Parque Natural Gallineral. Pretty park and pretty river. I'm sure there is more to do in San Gil, but that's all we had time for.

The area around San Gil is great for just about everything.
The area around San Gil is great for just about everything. We had a car so we were able to tour the roads in and around San Gil and it is beautiful, mountainous country. The Cuevas del Vacas is a must see but not for the faint of heart ( we are part of the over 60 crowd and thoroughly enjoyed it)
Excellent hostel, excellent location, amazing staff. Very nice and relaxed, respectful and friendly travelers, and excellent activities that you can book at reception. The hostel itself has a lovely central garden area that's a pleasant place to relax with a book or work. Internet worked pretty well, with a few moments of spottiness around 5/6pm, but not majorly disruptive. Super walkable to all of San Gil. My room (private) was comfortable and spacious -- I easily could have stayed for another week at least.
Honestly, probably the best hostel I’ve stayed in Colombia so far. Johanna and her family really knows how to make you feel at home. whatever you need they will sort you out, they helped me to book tours and gave me some good tips and idea as of what to do next. The facilities are always clean and the rooms are comfortable. the hostel is located just one block way from the main center where you can find good food and delicious coffee. I can’t recommend this place enough. 11/10(if I could) :p
Friendly staff, who helped us with everything we needed. Amazing quiet place in the middle of the nature with a beautiful garden with many birds and a nice swimming pool. They offer a Turkish steam bath service, which was really relaxing. The garden offers many places to relax. Many restaurants in San Gil have a delivery service to this hostel. The surrounding is great for walking and birdwatching. We had a private kitchen next to our room. The hotel dog is the sweetest dog ever!
Everything was simply a blessing in this hostel. The rooms are spacious, the bed is huge and so comfortable. The ambient of the whole house is cheerful and colourful. The lady who works there prepares delicious breakfasts and cleans everything spotlessly. Definitely one of the best places to stay in San Gil. 5 minutes walk from the centre. One can do so many things in this area. The owner helps you with booking different activities via Whatsapp. Thank you for this beautiful stay.
set in a really beautiful and recently renovated house next to the plaza (but really quiet!), super spacious rooms (!), exceptionally clean, private bathrooms, incredibly comfy beds, great great facilities & sweet value for money. staff is so nice and relaxed, diego is very knowledgeable and leidy very sweet! showers are incredible and everything you’ll want is nearby, i wouldn’t know why anyone wouldn’t wanna stay here when passing by san gil :)
Absolutely everything was fantastic. The staff was amazing, they gave great recomendations for activites in and around San Gil, you can book things directly through them, each and every one was friendly and helpful. They also organize their activities (we went to play tejo).
As far as the hostel, we stayed in a private room, it was clean and spacious, comfortable, just the bed is quite noisy.
Truly a 10/10 experience.
Cute little hotel up on a hill and just out of town. The staff were wonderful, able to check in early and leave our bags late. The breakfast (eggs, bread rolls, arepa, jam, butter, juice and coffee) was amazing and the staff tried very hard to get everything right even with the language barrier. rooms were clean and bathrooms near pool and property cleaned regularly.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Jane and felipe were wonderful hosts and made us feel super welcome! We loved that the location was a bit out of the center of San Gil so we could really enjoy the views and the quietness of the place. We also loved the 2 dogs and cats. Jane made super good meals each evening. And a shout out to their good music taste :)
This is a must stay if you are in San Gil. the staff were so friendly. Juan greeted us when we arrived and explained everything about the town, the area and the available activities. breakfast was delicious. location is perfect, just off the main square. rooms were really spacious and clean. the staff organised the raffling and our departure bus.
This is an amazing place that makes you feel at home and at the best vacation place ever. There is not a better place to stay in San Gil. An absolutely magic experience.

Fantastic staff that had helpful suggestions related to everything in and around San Gil. They let me hang out there a few extra hours after my check out hours, which I appreciated a lot. And also they had an arrangement for the laundry that is very convenient.
Everything was perfect! The owners are too kind, always there to give recommendations and make your stay in San Gil amazing! The hostel is ultra clean and the kitchen well equipped. There are plenty of bathrooms, and hot water for the shower.
The arrival was difficult. The hotel entry is inside of shopping center. I don't remember where they say that. But the attention and friendly of the host were great, the registration process was fast, and my family could follow to rest.
