Historically known as Canton and China’s third largest city, Guangzhou is the birthplace of the most popular type of Chinese cuisine with iconic wonton soup and dim-sum. It boasts an impressive skyline, some of the oldest temples in the country and crowded markets with everything from tea to hi-tech electronics.
The busy city centre mesmerises with its futuristic architecture and beautifully lit skyscrapers but just a short trip away you can find yourself in the quiet haven of Nansha Wetland, a bird sanctuary. Rejuvenated with new energy you can then admire the traditional Cantonese architecture of Xiguan Residence, once occupied by the upper class.
One of the city’s most popular attractions, the Liurong Temple is an absolute must-see, dating back to the 6th century and featuring a 17-storey high pagoda. Make sure you don’t miss traditional buildings near Yide Road as they’re slowly being removed from the map due to the city’s rapid growth.
From a 1000-year-old lake garden, to plenty of theme parks, relaxing rolling hills and mountains, Guangzhou seems to indeed have it all! Add impressive street markets and shopping centres and you’re up for a fascinating ride.
Guangzhou Airport is a convenient metro or taxi ride away and Booking.com provides over 390 different accommodation options for you to choose from.

I looked forward to travelling to China, having last been there in 2016. I hoped to mix work and play by going on tours around the cities I visited. I was a bit disappointed by the dearth of English-speaking staff in hotels and even at airports. With China now leading in many aspects in the world, investing in a few English-speaking guides in strategic places would help. Or is the plan for all of us to learn Chinese? Fellow travellers, have your translation app ready on your phones next to your passport when you land. Immigration and (some) airline staff are an exception, though. They speak rather good English.

Good food a plenty.
Good food a plenty. Beijing Lu pedestrian walk is good to shop, eat and learn some history. Visited their zoo and spent long time admiring their giant panda Xing Yi and Ya Yi with admission ticket at RMB20 only. Rainy season and hamper some travel plans. Road to Fashion Tienhe was terribly jammed due to 6.1 and rain. Fashion Tienhe was huge, funny but packed with people! Best mode of transport is metro lines, or hire a DiDi if you travel in a group of 4 (which could be cheaper per pax compared to taking the metro line).

Guangzhou was my city for 14 years, and it still feels like home to me. Returning is always a pleasure, so I might be a bit biased when writing a review. However, Guangzhou is a city that truly deserves a visit, whether for tourism or business, which is often the main reason people go there. Its rich culture, vibrant food scene, and dynamic business environment make it an excellent destination for any traveler.

Good place to shop and eat if you know where to find. This is my first trip after COVID and i realised people are not as friendly as before, consumer goods prices are no longer cheap. Food is still good and affordable.

Beautiful city full of restaurants at every street corner , the people are on the move and everyone is hustling. Language is a barrier since everyone speaks only Mandarin, you always have to have the translator app. The food is nice but the cakes are nicer - they make the most amazing cakes.
Great Location for the Canton Fair. Free shuttle bus gets you there in 15 minutes or you can use the Metro station right next to it to get there in a similar time. Starbucks and Mcdonalds below the hotel are great options for breakfast if you dont want Chinese style breakfast. Rooms are comfy and well equipped. Mine had its own kitchen area. China bank also located directly below so conveniant for chaning money. Not that anyone in China wants cash these days. its Wechat or Alipay everywhere now, inclouding mcdonalds!
This was close to the airport. They had a free shuttle bus which picked us up and also took us back to the airport the following day. The same van also brought us to the nearest subway station so we can explore the city center (very far 1 hr away with very crowded trains)
there were restaurants and malls nearby. I should have chosen to stroll at the mall about 2 train stops away rather than going all the way to the city center.
the staff was very helpful. they had a translator device for efficiency.
First of all, I would like to thank Paco Hotel for the transfer to the Canton Fair - it was well organized and supplied with water and snacks. Everyone in the hotel is willing to help you. The room I got was spacious. The breakfast is good - it is a nice mixture of global and local food. The hotel is located close to the Pazhou complex (Canton fair) - it is around 20 minutes of travel by bus. The metro station is just few minutes away by foot - you can travel to and from the airport using the same line.
Room was spacious and very clean. It was equipped with all the required amenities.
Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi were great.
There were lots of options in Breakfast menu for both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian.
Location is great!! Its near to all Business centers, Metro stations and Canton Tower.
Entire hotel staff is very polite and helpful. They made my 6 days long stay very comfortable and memorable.
I highly recommend Grand Hyatt hotel for business travelers.
Mr Rainy quo on reception, met very warmly, also took luggage from cab to room. He guided us for taxi as I had to attend Canton fair. He wrote in Chinese language on hotel card and helped. Also he arranged microwave to cook veg food packets which I possessed. Also other staff were cooperative. on 8th floor foot massage was very relaxing. On the whole a comfortable business stay.
Our stay was very comfortable. The stuff was always ready to help us, there was a person who always spoke English - so there was no language barrier. Our room was beautiful, with nice view, always clean. Another thing, very good for those who participate in Canton Fair - there are 2 buses always: 8am, 9:20am and returning - 5pm and 6:20pm. Perfect. Thank you, Paco Hotel!
This is more like a resort hotel in Middle of GZ. Nice & relaxing but close to everything including Canton Fair. On island in the river. There is a great running track all the way along so you can keep fit without running through town. Nice bar & free flow from 6pm. Shuttle bus to exhibition. Not cheap - but it will be my hotel of choice from now on..
close to airport taxi ride is about 10mins. lot of taxi outside hotel. Didi taxi is only ¥25.
hotel offers a free bookable shuttle bus back to airport.
the morning breakfast is good. has a small useable gym. KFC downstairs but close at 11pm. there are late night street food stalls about 15-20mins walk towards the town next to Bank of China.
In the past 10 years, I have always booked in this hotel during the Canton Fair because the service was a high standard, but I will never come here again because the standard has deteriorated a lot. The food in the restaurants became low-level, but the prices were raised significantly, the rooms were very shabby, not Shangri-la.
Very nice hotel in the middle of city. Staffs were very polite. Breakfast was decent. Lot of shopping centers nearby.
Restaurants, KFC and MAC nearby. Clean and comfortable bed. Allows late check out.
I want to mention Mr. Joshua from the front office, who helped me a lot during my stay.
I enjoyed it here for 6 nights... During the Canton fair bus provided by the hotel. The staff is very humble and friendly especially the manager Ms Tracy. She is a very helpful and kind hearted person. She is always available for help with a smile.. full mark for staff and Ms Tracy.
Managers James and Jolin and all their staff are awesome. Always happy to help and solve any issue. The bus to Canton Fair was always on time, with water to make it better. The hotel is well located. Their restaurant is great, with Chinese and Western options. Super recommended.
The property was convenient and close to everything! It's just walking distance from many malls. This is best for tourists who prefer going around the city via Didi as there are a lot of taxis waiting near the hotel. Few of the hotel staff can also speak basic English.
There are lots of eating places nearby if you are used to China style eating. Most of them close early and crossing the road is not for the faint hearted. Morning time the next door restaurants opened late, we opted to go back to the airport early to eat
We have the best view of Canton Tower in our room.
Next to IGC Tianhui Plaza shopping mall easy access to train station and lots of restaurants just across the hotel walking distance.
