The host was super kind and went above and beyond to accommodate me and my mother after we had a terrible experience at Kane Villas, which was overpriced and vacant with no host or hostess. I recommend staying at Pine Ridge Lodge over anywhere else in this area. The facility is super clean, off the grid, and the staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. You can't go wrong staying at Pine Ridge Lodge if you are ever in the mountains of San Ignacio, Belize! The creek behind the rooms is a pleasant sound to fall asleep and wake up to! :) Two thumbs up!!!!

Location was fantastic. Very central, and not noisy.
Air conditioning was very good - cooled the room down quickly, and was quiet! Considering the highs of +43C, this was very much appreciated!
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Access to the butterfly reserve and pool at the Midas hotel (20 minute walk away) was much appreciated.

Max is a really good host. Max immediately helps when it's needed. The room is very comfy and the small fridge is a very welcoming addition given the high temperatures.
The building is on walking distance from the city centre and very good accessible.

One of the lovliest hostels I've stayed at!
The dorms are spacious, with comfortable beds and fans (it was very hot while I was there!). The wifi works very well, the kitchen has everything you need and the common area is really nice
The staff are super friendly and make everyone feel at home in the hostel. Most nights there is some activity in the common area so it's easy to make friends here :)

Nice small city- nice people. Very close to Tikal in Guatemala- an excellent historic place to visit .
We hired a cab for all 3 days. A bit pricey but was extremely convenient and the owner/driver was super nice.

Good place to base with lots of activities close by.
Good place to base with lots of activities close by. We didn't spend much time in the town itself as we stayed slightly out of town center so cannot comment on restaurants and such. Good street food. Good grocery shopping to stock up.

We spent 2 full days there.
We spent 2 full days there. The first day we went to the local Mayan ruins of Cahal Peche and Xanantunich and the second we went cave tubing with Bellizean Caving Expeditions. Both were amazing experiences. If we had an extra day we would have loved to see the Mayan city of Carocal which is further away from town.

If you're looking for quiet and remote, then this is your place. There isn't much to do here. Thank God for the Casinos. They gave me something other than staring at the hotel walls to do.
Visiting the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich, was great. But you definitely want to take the taxi from the ferry to the top of the hill, if you're not in good shape.
Just a little way up the road is a restaurant named Sweet & Sour. The food was very good. I just wasn't feeling the cow foot soup. Lol.
Although lots of advertisement says public transportation is available. However, unless you want to spend a small fortune, you absolutely need a car and a working cell phone for the GPS.
The people in Belize were very helpful and friendly. It was great that most of them spoke English. This was a huge plus.
The poverty here was heart breaking. I'm glad that I had an opportunity to visit. But I doubt that I will be going back any time soon.

The only thing that was horrific about this place was the hair braiding woman whose small shop is directly left from The Spot restaurant which is on the opposite side of the Venus hotel. The woman is violent. She gave us a big spill about how awful my daughters hair extensions were and that she would take it out and do it again. She said she would do it for 50USD. We accepted as she seemed like a nice lady but how wrong we were. She took the extensions out but then said she couldn’t remove the beads in my daughters hair and would need to leave them in. My daughter was horrified so I then had to bite every single one of them out myself. She then cut a three inch chunk of my daughters hair which is right on the crown. We told her we didn’t want her doing it and she bullied us to carry on. She then side platted my daughters natural hair and made a huge plaitted bump and then sowed the hair into the plait leaving a huge surplus of the hair extensions hanging. My daughter was so distraught and started crying and begged her to stop. She then took a 12 inch kitchen knife from her handbag and pepper spray on her key ring and said we must giver her the money. It was such a scary experience. Please please avoid this woman at all costs. We then complained to authorities whom explained she was mentally unstable. They wanted us to file a police report to have her arrested but we just wanted to leave the area.

Easy to navigate on foot.
Easy to navigate on foot.
The market is a must see for especially the food that is available throughout the day.
Just like any other place, be careful at night time when walking downtown. We did feel very safe.
Have bug repellents ready at night.
Rainforest Haven is in a good location uphill from nearby shopping, restaurants, etc. (We hadn't realized how hilly San Ignacio is.) The staff were very friendly, and Benji the dog was very cute. There's a retractable double clothes line in the bathroom. That was awesome! There's also a rooftop bar that doubles as a Marie Sharp's tasting room where you can taste her entire line of hot sauces, jams, and jellies. There is a shared kitchen that both rooms lead into. The guys in the other room were nice.
We had the best time at Clarissa Falls. The property is so peaceful and beautiful. The river runs directly behind the cabins. The cabin was simple but cozy. The owner Chena is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. She treated us like family. She helped us plan our activities and we had fun with all of her recommended tours. The food was delicious- we ate all of our breakfasts there and most of our dinners. We didn’t want to leave and we would definitely stay there again.
The grounds were absolutely gorgeous. I liked that a lot of the forest was still intact and there were beautiful flowers throughout the property. The pool area and restaurant were well maintained and pretty. The staff were the best - they were exceptionally kind and spent a lot of time talking to me and making me feel welcome. They even searched for Toucans and ran over to grab me once they spotted them!
The very best thing about our stay was the restaurant!! The chefs were FANTASTIC! Such amazing gourmet food! We loved it all so much! It was also fun to have so much birds and wildlife around us to watch as we ate. The owner and workers were SO nice provided such great service too! It was located in a good spot, near San Ignacio but remote to feel like a jungle! Cute housing units too.
The hotel has a lot of potential, as it's in a beautiful old building, right by the river, with a beautiful (despite small) garden. All rooms have a view of the garden and river from the veranda outside the room. The staff tried their best to make the room and duvet tables look nice by decorating it with flowers. Staff was friendly and helpful. The Pol was small but nice for a plunge.
Nearly everything! The location was very convenient near Cahal Pech and downtown. The restaurant had excellent food and service. But the best part was the people! Paula was an exceptional hostess, providing great recommendations for food and travel. They also made muffins every day to leave in the room. You could tell this staff takes pride in the property and your experience.
Best hostel! The owener is such a cool and friendly guy. Every night he was hanging out with the guests at the common area and interacting with everyone. One day he drove us to the river for a swim, which was super nice.
The hostel is very nice, big living room, big kitchen and bathrooms and very cozy dorms. Free drinking water and coffee in the morning.
I loved this place!
The property was locally owned and tucked away in a quite neighborhood. We were surrounded by lucuous greenery and lovey wildlife. The room was spacious and clean with an open floor plan. The host was a wealth of local knowledge of Belize and hooked us up with a guy who gave us some of the best tours of ATM & Tikal. Highly recommend staying here if you have a car.
The property was beautiful and well maintained with lots of beautiful trails to enjoy. The staff were all friendly and seemed to really care about making our experience the best it could be. I appreciated that we could have all our meals right on the property and we could book all our tours through them. I would highly recommend.
perfect location for exploring San Ignacio. the staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant and bar were frequented by lots of locals which is always a good sign and it helped us get a much more authentic belizean experience. Thank you so much to Elmer, Aron, Dora and the rest of the team for a brilliant stay!
Rolson Hotel is in San Ignacio, an ideal location for many tours, including the very popular ATM Cave Tour. While the hotel is not too near the downtown, it is very easy to order a cab or hail one on along the road. A major plus at the Rolson is the on-site restaurant, which has delicious food.
Clean, spacious room, 5 minute walk from the centre. Really helpful staff, who organised an excellent tour to ATM (cheaper than other operators). Great breakfast with toast, spreads, fruit, orange juice & coffee. Free water. Microwave available in the hallway, with the breakfast.
This is a basic hotel with few frills but it gets the job done. Perfect for a short stay in San Ignacio. Don't expect a pool or anything like that, but you are smack in the middle of the town and can walk everywhere. I liked it.
the hotel is right in the center of San Ignacio and the best was the food and the staff! we felt like this was home, everyone was very friendly! recommended if you are staying in San Ignacio!
Friendly staff (Bubbles, you run a great hostel!), spotlessly clean, spacious kitchen and common areas, near Cahal Pech, shops, bus stop, and decent restaurant just across the main street.
The location, the viewsthe service and value of my stay was exceptional amazing for my birthday trip the best hotel! Imagine waking up every morning with the view and sounds of the river
