São João del Rei is an old city with a charm on its own. It's a great option if you plan to discover the Maria Fumaça – the old and famous local train. The city is big enough to offer all major necessities and still carries the imperial style from the XIIV century. It's also a great basecamp for discovering the cities around like TIradentes, Bichinho, Prado etc.

It’s a really nice hostel, with beautiful outdoor space and a pool. It’s perfectly located in the old part of town in possibly the prettiest street in Sao Joao! It’s very nicely renovated, beds were super comfortable and you could actually sit on a bottom bunkbed! Dorm where I stayed was very spacious as well. Breakfast was AMAZING! Such a big selection! And the Volunteers were the nicest people ever! Highly recommended!!!

Longe da cidade, você tem que ir primeiro para San João del Rei e isso é cerca de 25 no ônibus que passa na esquina, e de lá pegar outro ônibus para Tiradentes.
No breakfast necessary as 5 minute walk from main street.Very good location walking distance of bus stn, lovely markets, railway museum, steam train ride at weekend to Tiradentes a gemstone of a place you must visit, Sao Joao a very nice town in its own right.
I loved everything. The breakfast was amazing! The staff super attentive, we could keep the bags there after and they gave us each a bottle of water for the trip. A great location and great decor. I love, love, love São João del Rei.
