You get to stay in an old castle for an affordable price. I booked the dormitory but got the "shared room" instead, which is a normal hotel room with cable TV and private bathroom, except someone else needs to cross through it to reach the room located upstairs(through a tiny spiral stair at the back). There was no one else the night I stayed (weekdays tend to be quiet), so I felt like I had the whole castle to myself. A buffet breakfast filled with different kinds of pastries (though they mostly taste the same) and plenty of fresh fruits was offered, in a large reception room with balconies overlooking Plaza de Mayo. I mean, seriously.

Hotel is centrally located, couldn't be better for exploring Sucre. The price is correct for such a wonderful location. Restaurant is decent and handy, but the food is just decent, nothing more.

Sucre is the de-facto capital of Bolivia. It is rich in history with many museums available to visit. The city is exceptionally clean and its gardens are beautifully maintained. The 25th May Plaza is a realy nice shady place to sit and watch the world go by.
Buildings are almost universally painted white (you will need some good sunglasses as the glare is strong) and well maintained.
Plenty of quality restaurants with reasonably priced traditional and international meals.
Friendly and helpful people but little English spoken.

We loved Sucre.
We loved Sucre. It retains an excellently restored and preserved Spanish colonial town center with its churches and monasteries. Everything within walking distance (at least for us); we never required car transport. The museum of the liberation period, the Casa de la Liberdade, was very interesting. The cathedral is magnificent and well maintained. English tours existed in all the museums we visited but there were very few time slots available so we made do with our reasonable Spanish skills.

This is perhaps the fifth time that I have visited Sucre...
This is perhaps the fifth time that I have visited Sucre with my partner. This time was for family reasons and not tourism. However, as always, Sucre - The White City - does not disappoint. We managed to go and see the indigenous show 'Origins' and combine the experience with dinner. This 'ethnic' history of Sucre was most enjoyable and I can thoroughly recommend it to all ages.

Sucre is capital of Bolivia but suddenly is very calm place.
Sucre is capital of Bolivia but suddenly is very calm place.
People are nice and streets (except market area) are not crowded.
City is quite small and centre has perfect construction. Need 10 minutes by walking to reach all interesting places.
But most important is the history of that place...
Worth to visit!

We were in Sucre for 4 days, it was lovely to have enough...
We were in Sucre for 4 days, it was lovely to have enough time to stop and watch the markets and see the town in its routine. Recommend hoping on a local bus for its route to see some of the back streets and hop off when something takes your fancy. Buses and Taxi's everywhere so you're never lost. Wonderful to see Indigenous tribes living here in Sucre, and their wonderful clothes and colours.
Recommend taking the bus out "of town" to Mercado Campesino for a another view into the day to day of Sucre.

Amazing owner who really went to great lengths as I was suffering with altitude sickness & had to extend my stay. Ended up staying 8 days. The owners son is a dr who was outstanding in dealing with my symptoms. What are the chances of booking a hotel that has a dr with a consulting room!!. I received better care in Sucre than I did in my own country. Cant thank them both enough. Hotel is also in a great location just off the main plaza.Highly recommended
My partner and I stayed at pachamama for 4 nights and loved it! The property is in the town centre but peaceful enough to not feel like it. The courtyard is beautiful to sit in the sun and enjoy the beautiful garden. Mango the resident golden retriever is a delight! Our room was very spacious and clean. The staff were so lovely, it felt like a home stay. Highly recommend staying at this family ran hotel.
Everything! The location in perfect, the hotel is very nice with a beautiful and quiet pool area. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. What really makes the difference is the staff, always smiley and welcoming, happy to help at any time. Highly recommend it!
Staff were super lovely and very helpful.
Location was great, easy to get to and a great location to explore Sucre from.
The free breakfast was perfect. Just basic for free with options to buy extra for quite cheap.
We thought this was an attractive and comfortable hotel, well situated in the historic area of Sucre. We were particularly impressed by the helpfulness of the staff
