It's the second time being accommodated here. We would definitly come back.
The place is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly. The value is very good and it is clean and in walking distance to the center and next to a park.
The included breakfast is good, but for a longer stay it can be a little repetitive. They have all the necessary room appliances and accessories and the rooms (and bathrooms) are well sized, but depends as well which room you get assigned to (some are larger than others).

The location is amazing, very close to Tsarevets Fortress. There are also many nice restaurants nearby.
A great bonus is the terrace on the top floor with a perfect view. However, it's a pity that the reception lady didn't tell us about the Sound and Light show. We accidentally went up to the terrace during the show once and managed to see literally a minute of it.

We happened to be there for 2 very hot days which made walking to and around Tsarevets fortress difficult but it is well worth a visit. The old part of town is also full of interesting buldings, shops and craft workshops.
We went to a restaurant called (Le?) Jardin for dinner on both evenings. Here we could sit out and there was a good variety of tasty food.
As we were travelling by public transport and not having smart phones a map of city bus routes would have been very useful. We were able to find a bus from the fortress back to town and this was good. We wanted to go to the Bulgaria mini park but in the end did not because it was too far to walk in the heat. We had to settle for viewing from afar from the Baldwin Tower in the fortress.

I recently visited Veliko Tarnovo, and it was a delightful experience. This charming Bulgarian town, with its rich history and stunning architecture, captivated me from the start. The views from Tsarevets Fortress are breathtaking, offering a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved medieval ruins. The cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and friendly locals made my stay truly memorable. Veliko Tarnovo is a hidden gem that I highly recommend to anyone seeking a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.

Veliko Târnovo offers a truly enchanting experience for visitors. The highlight of the city, Tsarevets Fortress, is a must-see attraction, albeit with its fair share of uphill climbs and cobblestone paths. However, the effort is well worth it, as you're rewarded with stunning views and the opportunity to explore historic sites at your own pace. The picturesque houses nestled into the hillsides provide a captivating backdrop for exploration and photography, with designated spots offering ideal photo opportunities. The warmth and hospitality of the locals further enhance the experience, ensuring a memorable visit. Don't miss the chance to dine at Shtastliveca restaurant, where delicious food is served alongside breathtaking views, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home.

Excellent accommodation.
Excellent accommodation. Everything in the room is very clean and new. Parking is very easy to find near the hotel. The place very quiet. There is a common kitchen very convenient with everythink you need. The staff is very friendly and attention with the turists. It would be very nice if all staff from Bulgaria would be at the same.

Very nice town (even it is a city, but in touristical part, it's a cosy little town with sloped cobblestone streets), VERY NICE people (Bulgarians are our brothers, indeed, I always felt that, as a Romanian).
Well organised, photogenic, good food, nice views and relaxing!

I used to live in Veliko Tarnovo (VT) so I know it pretty well. Being they old capital of Bulgaria, it is steeped in history and is great place for tourists with an interest in Bulgarian history to come and explore.
The Yantra River meanders in a steep valley, through Veliko Tarnovo.
There are a plethora of hotels to stay at and many apartments to rent, along with numerous cafés, bars and restaurants.
The main street winds its way along the hillside and the total length is walkable in about 40 minutes. There are shops of all types and further out of the city, there are super stores - supermarkets, DIY stores and furniture stores.
Taxis are cheap, metered and widely available and can also take you to nearby villages and back.
The city is served a network of buses.
Veliko Tarnovo has a railway station, that connects with Gorna Oryavitsa (a main railway hub) the line runs between Ruse and Stara Zagora. There's also a once daily international train between Bucharest and Istanbul, stopping at Gorna Oryavitsa and Veliko Tarnovo.
There are museums, galleries, a beautiful park, even a visiting circus.
Tsaravets Fortress lies at one end of the city, at the top of a hill.
For those with disabilities, walking is often up and down steps and fairly steep hills and wheelchair access to many places is limited, although this is improving, albeit slowly.
Climate in Veliko Tarnovo is very cold in the winter months of January and February, as low as minus 15°C and it can snow heavily. Summer months are hot.
This is the hotel with the best view in Veliko Turnovo!! Absolutely amazing rooftop terrace! The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean, the receptionists were very kind and friendly, we had tasty breakfast included in the price and the location is just next to Tsarevets and the Old Town. The location is superb and the parking is very close. It costs 15 BGN per day. Great value for money and I highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back on our next trip in the area.
The host was really excellent, helping us park the car and carry my elderly parents' bags up to the apartment. Moreover, when one of us left something behind, he offered to mail it by overnight courier to a subsequent destination while we're still in Bulgaria.
The apartment has a panoramic view of the city, seen though many windows and on a pleasant little balcony. It comes with everything required for a comfortable stay, even laundry detergent.
Room very nice and larger than most of the accomodations I stayed so far. It was the studio apartment. Very close to the main attractions in the city, 10-15 minutes walk to a lot of restaurants. Has a lot of parking space near rhe house. Staff very nice, checked a lot if everything was fine. I reccomend it! Also coffee and water free in the main lobby.
What can I say, it is rated number one hotel in Veliko Tarnivo and it lives up to it. I stayed at the number two hotel as well and it was inferior to the Gurko Hotel.
The breakfast was very good and they catered to a vegetarian diet.
The views are stunning and the setting of the hotel is ideal. The front of the hotel is cute and welcoming.
The studio is nicely located in the old center of town. The studio is new. The small space is very well used , to create the studio. The facilities are good. Tanya is a fantastic host. She spreaks fluently english and will help you whenever she can. She knows the city very well. You can park your car safely near the studiio..
The property was in a prime location good walking distance to everything good parking it was clean and good facilities owner was amazing never met them but they had us dinner delivered upon are arrival which was really nice would highly recommend and definatley would use again as a regular traveller to bulgaria
The only member of staff was ill so was transferred to his friends hostel roosters hostel which was the best one I stayed in the whole time in Bulgaria. Staff were very apologetic and helpful at moving me. It was super clean very cool and met some lovely other guest I will stay friends with
I stayed with my family at Gurko Hotel this spring and we loved it. The food was exceptional. The staff was welcoming and our room was clean and comfortable. The view was amazing and we enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Overall, great experience! I strongly recomend this hotel.
The perfect stay in Veliko Türnovo. The views to the fortres from our room were spectacular.. The bed was very confortable. The room super clean. The staff very helpful. The terrace on the top of the hotel have the best views to enjoy "the sound of the lights" show.
Cozy hotel, with wood details and a lovely view. Close to everything, offers private parking and the owner is a truly wonderful person. It was great talking to him and we have learned quite a lot about Bulgaria, its history, etc. Highly recommend this place.
Location is close to city center and Tsarevets citadel, and you can get a room with an amazing view to the Yantra river and the citadel.
Basic 2 stars hotel, cosy, not much expectation on this fact and price.
The room was big and cozy. The hotel is located in the forest just outside the city. It quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is very nice. In the evening you can have a nice dinner at the hotels restaurant.
Excellent appartement in perfect location. Spacious, very nice, modern and delightful renovated. Easy self check-in. Best guest house on my trip in Bulgaria so far.
I got a free upgrade to a studio which was very nice. The location is top and the option to park my car in the very center of the city was greatly appreciated.
