Hotel Elisabeth, hotel in Mechelen

Hotel Elisabeth is located in the centre of Mechelen, a 5-minute walk from St Rumbolds Cathedral and 1700 metres from Mechelen Train Station.

This hotel exceeded my expectations! Modern hotel with very comfortable room. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. The location was perfect, close to the main tourist attractions and downtown. It was easy to access and offered parking. The breakfast had very good variety of fresh and also vegetarian food. We could also spend good time in the swimming pool. Great value for money, I’ll definitely return with my family.

Hobbit Hotel Mechelen, hotel in Mechelen

This hotel is situated on the edge of Mechelen in a quiet location, a 5-minute drive from the city centre.

I stay at this hotel for the second time, the first time was 2016. But this year I was very pleased, the hotel is very clean, large parking, which is a rarity in all of Belgium. Very large rooms with good bathrooms, the rooms are cleaned every day. Special thanks to the hotel staff, the administrator, the guy at the reception, thanks to you I felt at home. See you soon.

Mechelen is a visually appealing small city with a fascinating history. I have visited two times previously and as it is within an easy train trip of the Brussels airport it is my preferred place to stay before taking a flight from Belgium. It has lots of attractions (climbing the tower in the cathedral is taxing), is easy to walk around and has lots of restaurants. On each of my visits I seem to have been fortunate to coincide with a musical event -perhaps they have a lot or maybe I was just lucky. For beer and whiskey drinkers the local product from Carolus is well worth seeking out.

    Beautiful city. Lots to see.

Beautiful city. Lots to see. Right between Antwerp and Brussels. Could easily use this as a home base for a week or more of exploring. Tons of places to eat and shop. Safe. Don't miss the old meat market that has been turned into multiple quick different places to eat. Relaxed and fun.

Mechelen proved to be a very attractive place, its lovely centre containing many beautiful old buildings. The cathedral is spectacular. There is a good choice of places to eat and drink, at reasonable prices. It's very quiet - almost eerily so in the daytime - and so a very relaxing place to wander around. It's also very handily placed for day trips to Brussels, Antwerp and Gent.

Mechelen has beautiful old churches, abbeys and other historical buildings and a few museums that are worth a visit. The cultural centre offered a beautiful photo exhibition 'We are Europe' and we had the luck to see a locally arranged fashion show on the city square. The toy museum has a beautiful collection of old dolls and dollhouses as well as all kind of mechanical toys. The building is pretty outdated, but they are going to move the museum in a few months time.

Surprisingly great visit - a walkable and bikeable city full of architecture and history, with lovely squares and cafes/restaurants. Definitely visit the brewery Het Anker and the Beguinage (small area within the city full of beautiful old streets and an interesting info as you walk around).

Extremely comfortable, very clean, and lovely staff. The apartment was huge, well equipped and very light with a beautiful view of the XIVth century Basilica directly in front of the hotel. A pleasure to wake up to such a view. The location is perfect to explore the city and also close to the train station (directly connected to BRU airport).

What's not to like? Stay for 2 nights in one of Belgium's leading breweries. Bonus, Room 23 is adjacent the malting & tank area so the room smelt strongly of malt. Excellent restaurant on site. This is the second time we've stayed.
