I have to be honest: Last minute booking, so I had to optimize my expenses. I read a few low rating reviews, and I prepared a solution for darkening the room for the afternoon sleep time for my kids. So with this everything was perfect. Value for money was over the expectation.

Beautiful, charming, characterful, comfortable, and spacious. Landhaus Dodo was everything I had hoped. There's a bus stop pretty much outside the door to the nearest town or railway station. Payerbach is so gorgeous that you'll never want to leave. Walks mountains cable cars unesco heritage railway and you can get to Vienna in less than a couple of hours
August. I tried to book in Reichenau an der Rax, to be close to the elevator/seilbahn, but optimized my expenses, so I booked to Payerbach. If you would like to get in walk distance from Raxaplen Austrian landscape, lot of hungarian staff in restaurants (hospitality, professionialism 10/10). Rax seilbahn elevator is 37 EUR / adult. I used my car to travel between villages. Main goal was to get to the Raxalpen mesa with my children, and we fulfilled this goal. Ottohaus and Raxalm-Berggasthof were good restaurants to take rest. At the villages nearby are petting zoo, waterfalls, you can swim in the small river, do small hikings to watch cows. Alps feeling 100%

There is a lovely Patisserie about 10 minutes walk for Landhaus Dodo where you get lovely cakes and tortes. The supermarkets are about 10 minites away by car in the neighbouring town of Reichenau.
Payerbach is a lovely place for walking.

Nice little town in the mountains.
Nice little town in the mountains. As one would expect in Austria, it is very clean and organised and locals are friendly. The Semmeringbahn railyway line offers easy, quick and scenic transit to nearby settlements. Ski resorts close by. Overall, great experience.

Payerbach has a perfect location for hiking or cycling in...
Payerbach has a perfect location for hiking or cycling in the mountains. There are many hiking trails (and not only on the Rax). There is a small hill (950 m) above the town which gives you a beautiful view on the valley. There is a Bahnwanderweg (Railway hiking trail) to Semmering with many amazing viaducts. On the first day we took the train until Semmering and we walked back to Breitenstein and took the train home from there. The next day we took the train to Breitenstein and walked back to Payerbach from there.
Do not forget to drink a coffee and eat a cake or ice cream in the Cafe Alber in Payerbach.
