Great location in a small, quiet town with amazing view but still with several restaurant options. Superclean place, the owners are really nice, the food is very deliscious, wide range of options for breakfast and it's great that you can have also dinner in the hotel. It's the 5th or 6th stay in Bad Mittendorf in the skyying season. Hope that global warming will not ruin the crosscountry skiing because Bad Mittendorf area is ideal for that with its many loipe which are well managed. However, this winter we were unlucky with snow but local people put lots of effort the maintain at least one loipe available down. There is an option always to go to the top of the mountains the loipe there is always excellently working. The town is nice, supermarkets are avalilable. If you want you can go to the swimming facility with hot spa and lots of possibilities. Good place with children, too. I warmly recommend the place. We love it.

Very cool town half an hour drive from Hallstatt. The center is tiny but very beautiful. In the central park there is a gazebo with pine essential oils. Near the town there is a ski resort Tauplitz, where you can drive a car along a serpentine. The town often smells of cow dung, I don't know why. In principle, this did not scare me, I am a city dweller, and such smells are unusual for me.

Bad Mitterndorf is a lovely little town in the Salzkammergut. It's connected to the train line (albeit the train only comes every 2 hours) but it takes you to all the surrounding areas like Hallstatt, Bad Aussee, etc.. There are lovely places to go hiking directly in Bad Mitterndorf (go to Singerhauserhütte for a cozy and delicious lunch). It's the perfect place to get away from it all, enjoy nature, and to feed your soul! Dinner at Nanu is a must!

Summer: If you're willing to drive 1-1.5 hours to reach hiking destinations, then Bad Mitterndorf is a good base from which to do so (there is relatively little that is nearer than ~40 minutes, but the Schladming are, Totes Gebirge, Dachstein, Gesäuse and parts of the Salzkammergut are accessible). Shopping for food is not a problem (Spar and Billa are present in Bad Mitterndorf; a Hofer is ~10-15 minutes away by car). Pharmacy present. Not much of a "downtown" but what there is is pleasant enough. You can also go for small walks in the woods around the village.

We decided to stay in Bad Mitterndorf because it was somehow near the places we wanted to visit on our vacantion.
We went to Hallstatt, 5 fingers, stairway to nothingness, dachstein gletscher, eisriesenwelt. We found our way around using waze !

Bad Mitterndorf is a lovely place with adjacent Grimming Therme (pools with thermal water). We liked the Diechtl butcher in the town, here you can buy high-quality meat and deli. A lovely place to visit is the wattefall northern to the town in the woods. You can also drive to Tauplitz and take a cable car (or drive by your own car on an alpine route - tax paid here). From here you can hike or climb to the Lavinenstein. Very nice mountain views on the Grimming mountain from here!
In the surroundings, you can visit karst caves and water springs, lovely woods, numerous mountain lakes where you can bath in the summer. Worth visiting are also local salt mines. I also recommend a trip to Salzburg to visit a Hangar 7 where you can see rare plains and formula 1 race cars.

The entire apartment is furnished with care and love. There are a lot of utensils in the kitchen. All rooms are of perfect cleanliness, nice balcony with a great view to the Grimming mountain and direct access to the garden with benches and a table. We appreciated the selection of board games in the evening. Very calm and quiet area, we slept very well. Couldn’t point out any improvement! It was the best apartment we have ever rented in our years of spending holidays in the Alps, both in Italy and Austria.
Great accommodation in Bad Mitterndorf just close to Tauplitzalm Alpenstrasse. The owner was very nice, supportive, helpful and friendly. Every morning he provided fresh information about weather conditions and what to do. If there is enough snow, you can ski down to the pension directly on slope Nr 2. The skibus stop is in 3mins walkable distance from the pension. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was very rich with big selection of different food.
It was really exceptional staying. Location, room (one-bedroom apartment),, cleanliness - everything is perfect. Landlord Cornelia was very hospitable and kind, ready to help with everything. The room was equipped to the last detail, everything is clean, working and functional.And speaking of price - it's hard to find better value for money. If you are looking for a high quality yet budget accommodation to travel around the Salzkammergut, look no further
Quiet location by the river (you also park by the river), a couple of minutes of a walk to the ski bus or a few minutes drive to the Tauplitzalm Alpenstraße for you can again take a bus to the Mitterstein gondola (you also go there by car, it is cca 10 minutes drive on a pretty good road).
It was a pleasant stay and in the end, I think it was good value for money.
Good family run, welcoming Austrian hospitality. The location was perfect as a base to explore the area (Grundlsee, Altaussee). The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was good. Restaurant and bar were both very good. Overall, nothing fancy but very clean and good value for money. I would go back (just asking for a different room).
The apartment is beautiful and immaculately clean. It is equipped with more than you need for a pleasant stay in this beautiful part of Austria. The location is a really good entry point for visiting nearby jewels like Hallstatt or beautiful lakes and valleys. Host Patricia is exceptionally kind and helpful. We will return, for sure!
Nice, very big apartment for four not far away from Bad Mitterndorf (you'll need a car, though). Great care given to details, very comfy beds. Exceptionally good equipped kitchen with about everything you'll ever need during your stay. We loved the complimentary coffee. Exceptionally friendly host.
Apartment was enough spacious with a really cool view to the mountains! It's equipped with all needed staff for cooking 👨🍳 Bus stop to the ski resort is just one minute from the hotel door. The hotel itself is very cosy. The room was very well heated.
