We had a very nice welcome from Stephanie when we arrived after a long bike ride along the Danube. Stephanie took the time to show us where we were on a map, recommend restaurants and even made us a drink. Breakfast was really good and served in a lovely dining room. The hotel provided safe storage for our bikes.
The new arte Hotel Krems is located, as its name implies, in the arts district of this beautiful town on the Danube, directly opposite the campus of the Danube University Krems

Ideale Lage, gleich beim Steiner Tor und Fußgängerzone
Krems is a fantastic city. Lots of sights, leisure and entertainment options. There is a very high-quality bicycle path along the Danube, it is easy to get to the equally beautiful neighboring Dürnstein or the other towns by bicycle. The baroque atmosphere of Krems is very captivating. It is a perfect destination for a shorter or longer stay as well.

Lovely old town with a great position on the Danube.
Lovely old town with a great position on the Danube. We spent 3 hours sitting on the comfortable chairs right on the river. Took our lunch there to eat on the river followed by a gelato. Great old traditional restaurant - Adlerbräu which has been in business since 1621. Terrific town square too. The night we were there they had a comedian on a floating boat (moored!) so there was lots of activity.

Kunsmeile is worth a visit.
Kunsmeile is worth a visit. Make sure that you have enough time for the four museums. The buildings are wonderful and exhibitions very good. The view from the rooftop terrace at Landesgalerie is breathtaking.
I wish that I would have time for the Wachau Valley.

We stayed next to one of the ancient city gates of the Altstadt. The old town is marvellous and the surrounding countryside is lovely. We walked the first leg of the World Heritage path into the Wachau on a beautiful day. and it was a trip that we will always remember fondly. Krems is most certainly worth a visit. I had stayed in the outskirts of the city some years ago when cycling the Danube bicycle path. I didn't realise at the time that the Altstadt was worth visiting but made up for it this time.

Krems has a lovely historic centre - two in fact including Teil - with lovely old churches, romantic cobbled streets and interesting museums and galleries. It did not seem that touristy either, unlike some of the other smaller places in the Wachau. It is an excellent base for exploring the Wachau, Tulln, the Wagram and drive/train from Vienna and the Wienerwald. Good range of restaurants, though as elsewhere in non-touristy places in Austria, do not leave it too late to eat in the evening, as everything is shut apart from pizza and kebab places.

Small town, full of character.
Small town, full of character. Great food and wine (it's the heart of one of Austria's main wine regions). Some interesting museums. A special mention to the Caricature museum, it's really worth a visit.

Gasthof Klingelhuber is currently closed so we were housed in the Hotel Klingelhuber which is owned by the same family and is across the street. Check in was efficient and the room was very nice with a comfortable bed and decent shower. We particularly liked the fact that the room was fitted with an aircon unit since it was 30° celsius on the day we cycled in. We slept well and the breakfast room was lovely, airy and cool, offering a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The breakfast buffet was generous and offered a wide range of choices.
We stayed in this wonderful hotel for two nights.
The location is perfect, in the middle of the vineyards and 10 min from the town center.
The bedroom was huge and very comfy.
Breakfast is complete, you can ask for eggs the way you like it and you have plenty of food to choose from the buffet.
Every staff member was lovely with us and our dogs and there was no extra charge for them, which is rarer and rarer…
What more can I say ? You have to go and try it on your own, you’ll feel at home immediately and will be very sad to leave ☺️
As the name suggests, Blick ueber Krems is part of a house perched on the hill right above the historic centre of Krems. From the private terrace, the view over Krems, the Danube river and the Goettweig closter opposite the valley is spectacular. One can spend hours just enjoying the view, and/or take it as an invitation to discover all that this part of Austria has to offer (Krems historic centre, Goettweig closter, Melk closter, Arstetten Castle, the Wachau, etc...). Only to return to a perfectly well appointed apartment.
recently stayed at an apartment in Krems, Austria, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The property was not only great and spacious, but it also boasted abundant sunlight, cleanliness, and a peaceful atmosphere. The apartment was amazing, offering a comfortable and cozy ambiance throughout my stay. Additionally, its close proximity to DPU, a mere 3-minute walk away, made it incredibly convenient for me. I can confidently say that for my next visit to Krems, I will definitely be choosing to stay with them again.
Location is excellent, good for exploring Wachau valley.
However, the best thing about this place is breakfast and service. Absolutely spectacular, and great value for money. Great selection of most breakfast items and a la carte hot items. Truly enjoyed our short stay here.
Very modern hotel with great amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the room had air conditioning which is a plus. They probably had the best breakfast. I've had on my trip. The staff that worked there were very professional and courteous. This is a very well run hotel.
An old hotel well organized for modern times. Excellent location, close to the city center. Breakfast: just great. A small beautiful garden. The owners are very friendly, they provide a lot of data regarding places to visit in Krems and surroundings.
Hotel simple but very comfortable and friendly. The innkeeper was very nice and helpful. A generous breakfast. A very comfortable mattress. Good position, about 10 min walking from town centre and rail station
Close to the tourist sites. Soundproof windows. Fully stocked and clean. Super comfortable. An Austrian apartment with a layout that reminds me of "The Third Man" - a majestic, pre-WWII building.
I thought the room was exceptional. It was truly well prepared and came with everything one might need. Excellent spot and would love to stay again. Krems and the Wachau region is a top visit
