Design Hotel Miramonte, hotel in Bad Gastein

Situated at the foot of the Graukogel Mountain and only an 8-minute walk from the centre of Bad Gastein, Hotel Miramonte enjoys a unique location overlooking the entire Gastein Valley.

The location is fantastic and the food (breakfast, lunch & dinner) was exceptional. We only booked breakfast initially, but after looking at dinner tables we opted for full board. Spa treatments were nice but nothing special, room was comfortable and clean.

Beautiful mountain views from the spacious room. Great location in the centre of town. Walking distance from the train station and to the ski lifts and waterfall. The owners were very friendly and helpful with giving advice about local hikes - the walk to Palfnersee at the top of the Graukogelbahn was a highlight of our whole European trip!

Just steps away from the Gastein Golf Course, this 4-star superior hotel enjoys a quiet location in the Gastein Valley.

We had a fabulous time at this wonderful resort where the staff were friendly and helpful offering a warm welcome complete with glass of Prosecco. Our room was large, airy and with a great balcony overlooking the mountains. The environment is stunning and there’s a wonderful walk up to Bad Gastein alongside the waterfall. We loved the pool and sauna area - perfect chill out zone. The property has a great bar where cake is offered in the afternoon. The food was generous and outstanding and we can’t wait to come for another stay.

Skiing in Graukougel is a must.

Skiing in Graukougel is a must. Fine dining at Bertahof, just north of Bad Gastin, is strongly recommended, fantastic Austrian food experience. Table reservation is needed. Eat at Schmaranz in Bad Hofgastein, everything localy produced at the farm. You'll eat by the open fire where the food is cooked. A place for meat lovers.

Bad Gastein used to be the place to be in the mountains...

Bad Gastein used to be the place to be in the mountains until 60 years ago. The architecture reflects this, beautiful belle epoque buildings everywhere. Unfortunately Bad Gastein wanted to become more "modern" in the 60-70ies. So they destroyed the village with awful buildings. The elegance was lost. Since 20 years those mistakes are being corrected and from my point of view they managed to hide the worst "architectural disturbances" in the meanwhile. And you can already feel it: it´s alive again and again gives one the impression to be in an elegant, timeless place. Also it seems that a new generation of hoteliers and restaurant owners is bringing some freshness into the village. So i can clearly recommend: go and see!

We had skiied in the Ski Amade area before but not in Bad Gastein - it was a very special surprise. We chose it because the resort is at high altitude, and we were taking a chance on good snow conditions, mid December, but it exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back!!!

We came during off-season - so a lot of places were closed. But we still found excellent restaurants, and things to do - and, to be honest, enjoyed the quiet. There were too many great restaurants to mention - every experience was unique, either because of the tasty menu, the views or the ambience. The walk along the waterfall is amazing! We walked up the path for the first time at night, coming home after dinner. It’s well maintained and well lit - my mom did it with ease at 83 years young!

Badgastein is a little gem in the Austrian Alps, with many options for a rejuvenating holiday. The paths in the mountains are enchanting, there is a ski center for winter sports, while the thermal waters feed the spas of many hotels, as well as the big municipal spa of this small town. There are regular connections by train to other parts of Austria and by bus to neighbouring villages. The only "disadvantage" is that the typical cuisine of the area is not inspirational and the dining experience is not that high compared to the other services offered in the area.

We skipped one day skiing and went to the Alpentherme at the Bad Hofgastein, it was a great and relaxing experience. But too hot inside. The children under 16 could not use tha sauna complex, not much to do for teen boys there.

Very good location near the town center and gorgeous waterfall. Location offers good starting point for skiing on 4 different nearby slopes which we found quite interesting. Town itself is also very beautiful and offers some great views down there to Bad Hofgastein. Rooms are big, spatious, big smart TV. Inside building garage is additional bonus as outside parkings sometimes might be fully occupied. We are happy and would definitively suggest this apartment to others. Price is very reasonable for this region too.

A very cosy hotel with a picturesque location and worth mentioning, always helpful and smiling staff. Without luxurious amenities, for those looking for ones, but meeting all the expectations of tourists focused on active recreation - skiing, running and mountain hiking. One of the biggest surprises is undoubtedly the delicious menu served in the hotel´s restaurant, throughout the week we sticked to it in the evenings, visiting the Bad Gastein village only during the day.

The most unbelievable hotel I've stayed at!! We were blown away with the beautiful design, views, and amenities at The Comodo. We especially loved the restaurant and the extra such as yoga classes, movie nights, and sauna/pool. You can take a €15-20 10-minute taxi from the Bad Gastein train station or walk along a beautiful walking path for about 30 minutes. So many things to do around the hotel in every season!

Hotel is in a middle of the city, skibus is 1minute by walk, not neccessary to move your car, especially becasue the parking spaces are limited. The view from the room is fantastic to the city, beds are comfortable. Owner speaks english. Breakfast is good, they have real coffee from machine not just the braun water as usually. Skiroom also available with heaters. So the hotel is very well equipped.

The hosts are very friendly and recommended a place for dinner. The breakfast was one of the best I had on my Alpe-Adria bike ride. I hope to come back and spend more time in this beautiful place! Agree with previous reviewers, this place has a Grand Budapest Hotel feel. Very beautiful old hotel, dark wood paneling, large spacious rooms, old pool and spa areas, mix of old and new decor. We had a huge room with a king sized bed overlooking the river and waterfall. Beautiful balcony. Staff were very friendly but relaxed. Key was available when we arrive after hours. The hotel is located smack-bang in front of Bad Gastein’s famed waterfall (which sounds like you’re inside the belly of a 747). The decor is a little aged, but has its 1960’s charm which I hope won’t be significantly affected by the renovations. The value is exceptional, considering the town is called the Monte Carlo of the alps.
