All rooms are en suite with classically styled bathroom fittings, alongside modern touches like flat-screen TVs. This was a room of immense charm in a spectacular ancient building. The renovations, furniture and fittings were a well judged balance between ancient and modern. A perfect destination to experience a flavour of Tudor England.

Ironbridge Gorge and the historic county town of Shrewsbury are both around 45 minutes’ drive from the town. Myroom[s] were outstanding - spacious, inviting, and beautifully appointed, with a balcony and outside setting from which to enjoy the River Teme below and watch the duck surf under the arches of the old stone bridge. Wonderful.

Darwin's Townhouse provides accommodation a 5-minute walk from the centre of Shewsbury. Shrewsbury Train Station is a 12-minute walk away.

As a "Shropshire boy" I've been returning to the Telford area to visit family and friends for many years, and since my mother sadly passed away in 2007, it's been a constant struggle to find suitable accommodation, with varying degrees of success, I might add. Now however, having spent three days at Church Farm (19-22 April), I think that I've finally found the Holy Grail! I honestly don't think that this accommodation can be bettered. The hosts, Chris and Allison were very welcoming and attentive throughout, the accommodation is stunning and the standard of the rooms was exceptional, with an obvious attention to detail. The bed was comfort itself, the shower was probably the best that I've found in a B & B, and breakfast was of a high quality. And lastly, if you want some peace and quiet, in beautiful surroundings, this is for you!

When the Iron Bridge was built in 1779, artists, travellers and even industrial spies flocked to see it. At Bridge View Guest House, you can admire the striking ironwork while enjoying full English or continental breakfast. The location was excellent, really couldn’t have been better. Breakfast was exceptional and staff super friendly.

The Castle is situated in a quiet area, at the top of Bishops Castle, with spectacular views of the town. It offers 3 bars with log fires, a restaurant serving local produce, and beamed bedrooms.

The Castle Hotel’s restaurant serves a modern food menu and a full English breakfast is available every morning. The outdoor seating area, where guests can eat and drink in warmer months, has views of the Shropshire Hills. Wonderful hotel in a beautiful historical building, with a very cosy, comfortable and characteristic interior. There's also a great garden with terrace and a large parking, and the restaurant serves delicious food.

With a traditional restaurant and ale bar, this family-run hotel has a patio garden and scenic views. The Corbet Arms sits on the banks of the River Severn, just 5 minutes’ drive from Shrewsbury.

The bright and airy bedrooms each have a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi access. Rooms also feature an iPod dock, air conditioning and a private modern bathroom, and some have river views. The quality of the buildings and other facilities was exceptional. In speaking to contractors on site I understand the Arms are regularly maintained and updated and the results show. All of the staff were very helpful.

Shrewsbury Station is just 5 minutes’ walk away. The room was charming and nicely appointed despite being in an older building. The breakfast was wonderful and included.

With beautiful period features and luxury décor, the individual rooms at the Lion and Pheasant have modern bathrooms with luxury toiletries. Rooms also have a TV, tea and coffee facilities and a seating area. We felt the room was really comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
