Pension und Apartment Edelweiß enjoys a peaceful but central location in Heiligenblut, just 30 metres from the nearest ski lift of the Großglockner Ski Area. Free WiFi is provided, and a free ski bus stops right outside. Very cozy and charming house. The view from the balcony (at Grossglockner mountain range) is magnificent. The owners, Barbara and Christian, are polite and attentive. The continental breakfast was ample, with a great deal of variety. My wife has some food allergies (gluten+dairy), however, Barbara took care that she had enough alternative options. Heiligenblut is a cute little town, well located within High Tauern alpine range and near to Grossglockner. We were most impressed with the nearby "Grossglockner High Alpine Road". It is a "Mecca" for cyclists and motorbike riders and reaches some incredible places such as Edelweissspitze or Pasterze glacier that offer some breathtaking views. Out of several towns near this road, Heiligenblut is likely the optimal choice.

Hotel Palais26 is situated in the centre of Villach’s pedestrian area, only a few minutes’ walk from the Congress Centre. Built around 1500, this traditional hotel is adorned by a splendid Renaissance façade.

The quiet non-smoking rooms are all individually designed and offer views of the garden or the town square. Excellent hotel, clean rooms, great staff, breakfast was excellent too. Location is perfect, right in a centre of town.

Decorated with unique shapes and creative colours, Hotel Fuchspalast is located in the centre of St. Veit an der Glan. The well-known Austrian painter Ernst Fuchs designed the building and the interior decoration in the style of Fantastic Realism. The staff were lovely, the room was spacious, secure parking is validated in the hotel, even little touches like the air is refreshed with a really nice scent throughout the hallways. I'm not sure I should give away my secret, but if you are looking for accommodation for ironman Austria, it is a really nice distance away from klagenfurt to keep away from the hype, but St Veit, as part of the bike course, still makes the area special for race weekend. In fact you cycle past the hotel and go down the pedestrian Street with music playing and people outside cafés cheering
