Ollantaytambo
Offering rooms with impeccable rustic style décor and garden views, this inn just 30 km off Machu Picchu, features red-tiled terraced Spanish galleries and views of the surrounding scenery. Wi-Fi is free.
Location - right in train station. Easy to take a tuk-tuk for 6 soles up to the Incan ruins/town. Quiet because the trains make no noise. Awesome views up to mountains. The place has tasteful character. Great green & organic philosophy and outstanding food from their own garden and local organic suppliers. Excellent cocktails & drinks, using famous alcohol also distilled there. Interesting history. Outstanding service from Lida (front of house) and Alberto (bar). They minded our large bags twice (for free), both going to Machu Picchu and returning. Organised a driver to Cusco for us too.

Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Spacious enough for our needs. The grounds were beautiful. Far enough from the town center to be quiet (though you can hear the train from anywhere in town) but easy to walk to downtown or the Ollytantambo ruins (or pay a few soles for a taxi). The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Needed a few days of clean green & not moving. Loved this little property & UNESCO town in mountains. Its just a short train ride to MP. Perfect stay. Right in center but quiet. Had 2nd floor Delux King. Large room overlooking gardened running river area and Historical site. Very clean property. Modernised room comfy huge bed with 2 relaxing chairs. Large shower. Front desk guys were very helpful. Upgraded Pervian Breakfast. Fruit yoghurt buns eggs cheese ham tomato Avacado juice coffee etc. Great location a min to everything. Next door one way chemist otherside a Local shop 50m to Square and wait for it. Just across tiny Bridge was the best restaurant in our 3 month trip. APU Veronica. Train is a straight 10 min walk or a 2 dollar taxi ride straight down hill outside front door. Easy to do sites in Sacred Valley from here. Just grabbed a local driver to bring us up direct from hectic Cusco. About 45US.
