In a peaceful, rural location, this country house was originally built in 1845. Today, the house has been converted into a luxurious privately owned hotel with many beautiful original features.

The Upper House is a former Wedgwood residence, built for Josiah Wedgwood's grandson, Francis Wedgwood. The house still retains its original charm, with extensive period decoration and traditional character. It is also a highly demanded wedding venue.

Perfect quiet setting, beautiful countryside all around; the facilities themselves were absolutely brilliant. The private bathroom was immaculately clean and modern. The glamping accommodation itself was so quaint and cosy, right down to the smallest detail, like the matching dinner sets with sheep design. The bed was extremely comfortable and the decor was so inviting and homely. Would definitely return 👍

The room was lovely and clean. We were originally apprehensive as the first impression of the hotel doesn't match the pictures. However as soon as you walk in, it's clean and airy. Really lovely with a warm atmosphere. Very impressed! The views in the dining areas were stunning (especially at sunset) and the service was spot on. Super helpful. We had forgotten some toiletries and they provided some spares straight away. Ordering food was very easy, for both dinner and breakfast. Honestly couldn't fault this hotel.

I liked the pragmatic communication from the hosts before, during and after the stay. The bed in room 2 is very comfortable and the bathroom is designed to a quality finish.

Location was beautiful. Hotel was lovely clean and stylish- it felt like luxury. Breakfast was tasted, although the eggs Benedict could have been a bit bigger.

Room was not designed for 2 adults and 2 children. The sofa bed was very small and my son slept on the floor. Breakfast was good and good choice. We had dinner and the portions were small.

Breakfast is fine. Hotel room comfortable as is the bed and shower room facilities. It’s a comfortable hotel if you are in stoke on Trent but only park in the designated car park and remember to log your number plate at reception as the penalties are a shock otherwise. I like this hotel. The staff are extremely helpful.

(This room was 5 star standard. Comfortable, immaculately clean, and some lovely special touches - coffee bags, fresh milk in the kitchen, a teddy (I am in love!) and a fabulously appointed bathroom. Well done to the designer...so thoughtful.
