Quinta da Pousada Casa de Campo, a property with free bikes and a garden, is set in Santa Marta de Penaguião, 26 km from Our Lady of Remedies Sanctuary, 28 km from Natur Waterpark, as well as 19 km from Mateus Palace. The air-conditioned accommodation is 12 km from Douro Museum. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Everything! But I suppose that Carlos, the manager with his warm smile, patient and friendly way, was what really stood out.

Sitting on a hammock just enjoying the senses of the terroir, being embraced by nature in all its magnitude. I could have stayed on that moment forever. Silence. Cidalia welcomes you as family, genuine tenderness and so much knowledge to share. The breakfast is amazing, served to you on the terrace by Cidalia’s son, a young and inventive Chef. Two hiking trails depart from the property (8k and 20km for the most brave) and are a great way to discover the region. Last but not least the mattress and pillows are very comfortable! A jewel I wish many of others to find!

Accommodation at Morgadio da Calçada is set in former sheds scattered through small patios. They were renovated to provide comfort with parquet floors, satellite TV and wrought-iron beds. Each private bathroom includes free toiletries and a hairdryer. We had an exceptional stay at Morgadio da Calcada. Daniela was welcoming and her communication leading up to our stay was excellent. The property is a true gem. Beautifully restored buildings make for one of kind guest rooms. Much thought and consideration has been put into the design and details of the rooms and property making for an excellent guest experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 course dinner with wine pairing. Manuel, the owner, and the chef explained the food and wine pairing choices throughout. A wonderful experience dining outdoors as the sun set over the vineyards. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh eggs prepared to your liking. The drive to the property from Pinhão was the most scenic portion of our drive through the Douro Valley. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful birthday experience.

We also very much enjoyed the interaction with our hosts and the dinners we had during our stay. We met many different interesting people each evening

Nearby attractions include the Palaeolithic engravings of the Côa Valley and the vineyards of the Douro Valley. Special place with lovely host and staff. Such a charming and cozy house with an excellent home cooked meal and breakfast. Bed and sheets were very comfortable and everything was spotless. The visit to the rock drawings and Ana’s explanation was worth coming out to Castelo Rodrigo alone. It was really a special experience. Thank you Ana and team for your hospitality. 100% recommend!
