Queenstown
Stoneridge Estate offers 5 star luxury bed and breakfast accommodation and fine dining in a tranquil setting, 15 minutes’ drive from the heart of Queenstown. You can experience breathtaking lake and mountain views from every room. Our stay at Stoneridge was little short of ideal! The grounds were simply stunning - you take a steep drive up to the resort, passing by vineyards and rose bushes. The buildings have a historic stone and wrought-iron look and truly feel like they have been there for centuries. Walk around the grounds and you might also see the very cute, peaceful chapel. The rooms were, again, stunning, with beautiful views over Lake Hayes. They were spacious and thoughtfully furnished, including the bathrooms which had his and hers sinks. On checking in, we were greeted by their very friendly staff who offered us two glasses of rose and a lovely cheese board. In short, we loved it here - it felt like pure luxury!
Cromwell
River Rock Estate is a 1-hour drive from Queenstowns main ski fields, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables Ski Area. It is a 40-minute drive from Queenstown Airport. It is adjacent to the Wooing Tree Vineyard. Our hosts Graeme and Jan-Marie were so welcoming. Our room was beautifully furnished and a superb continental breakfast (more than we could possibly eat) was provided in our room. BBQ on our own deck overlooking the vines and complete privacy. Use of washing/drying facilities was a godsend. And on our last evening we enjoyed a complimentary wine-tasting with no less than 8 wines and 3 ports! Such fun hearing all about the wine-making process in such good company. Thank you Graeme and Jan-Marie.
Cromwell
Set amongst beautiful gardens and a walnut grove, the adults-only Burn Cottage Retreat is just 6 minutes’ drive from Cromwell and 2 km from Lake Dunstan. Guests receive free Wi-Fi and a complimentary bowl of fresh walnuts from the grove upon arrival.
Surrounded by award-winning vineyards and fruit orchards, all cottages feature kitchen facilities, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with quality toiletries.
A retreat it is! This is one of if not the best self-catering places I’ve been at. Cozy, comfortable, clean and has everything one needs. Even, home-made cookies. I had a wonderful welcome by Gill and Noel and they were happy to help with everything. The surroundings are wonderful, don’t miss their garden, it’s wonderful. I did not want to leave the place. I wish I could have stayed more than the two nights booked.
Dunedin

The Chamberson was conveniently located close to the Octagon and had a luxurious vibe about it. The beds were really comfortable, and the hotel was quiet. As someone who struggles to sleep whilst away (and usually needs an eye mask & noise cancelling headphones!) I can say I slept comfortably with no issues whatsoever. The view was lovely & the big floor to ceiling curtains were black-out so no waking up early!
Nice location away from town quiet and peaceful
Quiet location, good parking. We'd just been hiking so needed a shower, food and comfy bed and it ticked all those boxes (we got food delivered). We didn't walk into town from there but it's not far down the hill.
The location was excellent, with ample parking and clear instructions for obtaining the key and house rules. The cleanliness was exceptional, and the surrounding area was quiet and peaceful.
The location exactly suited me. In the countryside, quiet but on the edge of town. I had visited at this time to see the autumn colours which were perfect. A healthy breakfast was delivered each night to prepare me for the day.

Quiet and peaceful. Also happens to be in the stunning town of Wanaka. All in all just a great place to stay. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are travelling and need to recharge.
