The host Taku is very helpful and nice, he recommend and reserve restaurants for us every night and they were all very delicious. One night we had sauna and hot tub under the sky full of stars, this is one experience I will never forget. The house itself is clean and cozy, with a very beautifully decorated yard. I stayed at the upstairs cottage, it was certainly the best stay in my entire winter trip, only regret was I only stayed one night, should have stay longer. The owner's welcome note on the door made me feel like coming home. The homey cottage was fully equipped, very cozy. Enjoyed self cook dinner, breakfast and spent quiet time indoor, you don't need to go anywhere, winter view from the balcony was amazing. Definitely would like to visit again in other seasons. You need a car to get there, walking from the nearest station in winter certainly not an option. I rented a car, so it wasn't a problem.

Yoko and her husband were the perfect hosts and invested a lot of their time making sure we had a brilliant stay in Rusutsu. We share many a laugh together and they made sure we enjoyed our time there to the full! A fantastic experience with every day starting with a delicious cooked breakfast, tea and coffee. If it was cold outside, everyone morning when we left we felt warm on the inside thanks to our hosts making sure we were ready for the active day ahead. Lovely experience; we will be going back!
