The breakfast was simple, bread rolls with ham and cheese, and some nice jams, with filter coffee. it was fine and there was plenty to eat. The housekeeper was very welcoming and made one feel at home. She does not speak English so you need Portuguese or some Spanish to have a chat with her!

The location was excellent, not so far from civilisation, but still just right in the middle of nature, very tranquil, relaxing. The house is a dream place for people who seek solitude and relaxation. It is very nicely done, the common kitchen has many tools and equipment to comfortably stay for several days. The owner was extremely kind and helpful, quickly responding to additional questions and provided useful tips.

Great view from top house, modern facilities and large comfy beds. When we got locked out someone was there to help us straight away. The river at the bottom of the hill is an amazing spot for a swim. Beautiful spot to relax in nature.

This place is lovely. After travelling around the area we realised we could have stayed here more than one night and wished we had. We had a room in the main house and the lads had the 2 bedroom house. Our room was lovely but the house is fabulous and very well equipped. Lovely area outside the house to sit and enjoy the sun. The hostess was very welcoming. Croissants, water, tea and coffee provided. Shops not too far away. Close to centre which looked lovely but a lot was closed due to a religious celebration. Plenty of room for motorbikes and a gated entrance to the grounds.

The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
The location was peaceful and quiet, just off the road, perfect for visiting Arouca 516 suspension bridge and Paiva Walkways. We received a very warm welcome and shown the shared kitchen facilities. Breakfast was left in the fridge to help ourselves, cold meat, cheese, fruit juice. Fresh bread rolls delivered daily. And … a very large home baked cake which was delicious. A very kind gesture. A fresh one was left for each set of visitors. A very busy baker! Obrigado! We will recommend to friends and family.
We absolutely loved the place and highly recommend it for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway. The experience was amazing, with excellent pool facilities.
The house is huge and provides all the comfort and facilities one could ask for. The big garden with the pool was perfect for enjoying the quiet of the surrounding hills. It's also very close to the start of the hiking trail Passadiços do Paiva which I highly recommend. It's been an amazing stay and I'm looking forward to coming back again for an even longer stay.

We were lucky to be the only guests and had all the place for ourselves (normally guests of three different rooms share kitchen and living room). We had a very pleasant breakfast at the balcony with pleasant rural views.
The staff are very kind, helpful and friendly, they helped us giving a lot of info about Arouca, the visit to the bridge and some hiking tracks. The room was quite cozy, huge and quiet. The bathroom was really clean.
The bed was also pretty comfortable.
We really had a great time staying at Casa de Vilarinho.
Definitelly will be our choice when we come back to Arouca and we really recommend it! :)
