We had a very relaxing three night stay at Jolly's cottage which was immaculately clean with fresh decor carpets etc and well equipped kitchen, Good off road parking, There is an upmarket pub in the village - we chose to walk to the alternative Cross Keys for a meal (including vegan). The majestic Goodrich Castle ruin (English Heritage) is in the village, and emergency supplies can be picked up in the next village on the A road, Morrisons, Sainsburys or Aldi in Ross. We used the cottage as a base to kayak on the rapids at Symonds Yat a very short 5 min drive away (we launched at Wyedean Adventure - pay for parking and launching). We also did a short 2 hour river trip from the public park at the Hope and Anchor, Ross on Wye down to the Parish Canoe Launch at Kerne Bridge (in the village not at the bridge) with the added bonus of a regular morning public bus service shuttle back to Ross from just outside the launch. It is usually possible to paddle upstream from all three points. Other attractions are available, including walks along the Wye. If you don't have boats or paddle boards with you, several open canoe liveries offer out and back or point to point rental on what is normally a gentle summer river with shallow rapids. The lodges are set in beautiful countryside, with everything you need, ours had full kitchen facilities and a hot tub, so much room compared to a hotel. There is a nice pub and the breakfast was superb!
It was so cosy and spacious, with a beautiful garden. It felt like staying in a home, not some fancy holiday cottage.
Beautifully appointed cottage with everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable and well heated. Huge hot tub. Responsive hosts. Easy to check in and out. Great countryside location with well stocked village shop. Short distance to larger towns.
Lovely Cottage, very cosy and has everything you need lots of thought in to all the little extras to make it home from home, the log fire was lovely and a real plus coming from a gas central heating it was a nice touch for cosy nights in by the fire.
Lovely cottage, has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Did not use woodburner as it was not cold enough. Everything is available if you did need it. Hot tub is big and warm.
Very welcoming hosts, lovely little touches...fairy lights Inide and out, treats on arrival, beautiful and cosy little cottage. The hot tub is amazing! Bed is comfortable. Pub within walking distance. Fabulous selection of home cooked meals...the cooked breakfast was lovely.
Lovely cottage in a quiet countryside location but still easy access to the city
Amazing countryside views ~ probably the best we have ever had. Lodge was small but had everything we needed (hot tub would have been nice!). Bed was really comfortable and shower was great too. Would love to stay here again for a more relaxing stay…. We were in the area helping my brother move house & had to extend our stay which all went smoothly.
The location was great and the area was so quiet, peaceful and pretty. You can park the car up for the weekend with lots of walks and local pubs. The cottage/lodge was so warm and cosy and spotlessly clean with linen and toiletries included. I would definitely revisit.
