My friends and I had a fantastic stay at The Old Barn over New Year's. The property had everything we needed, it was clean, spacious, a beautiful property and a great location, close to Hay-on-Wye for the bookshops and some of the best walks in the country on the doorstep. I would highly recommend staying here.

Breakfast was delicious with Richard's own honey, home-made jam and local eggs. He was even able to offer decaff tea :) The bed was very comfortable with lovely bedding. The road by the cottage was very quiet so I had an excellent night's sleep. Richard was a great host all round, thank you.

Myself and my daughter were visiting the Hay winter festival and the very characterful Chestnut cottage was well placed for our daily forays to the festival. Richard was a marvellous host and a passionate environmentalist which made for some great conversations after we had returned at the end of the day.

It's a charming cottage with a quiet, comfortable double room and ensuite bathroom. Richard, the host, was very affable, interesting, accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area. Breakfast was simple but delicious. WiFi was efficient, too! And only fifteen minutes to Hay...

Quirky rustic cottage, with oak doors and little stair case, leading up to the room and bathroom which was next to our room for our sole use. We also had a cafeteria and ground coffee and tea making facilities in our room, with plenty of towels. The owner made us a welcoming cup of tea on arrival and in the morning a lovely home cooked breakfast with hand made preserves all on delightful vintage China with fresh ground coffee and fresh orange juice. Served in a cosy snug with beams and stove.
