A special charming place with very nice and interesting host in a green surrounding. We loved to have long walks through the countryside and enjoyed the onsen.

The location was divine man. Situated a bit out of town, it feels more unique and authentic. The homeowner (albeit he did not speak english) was wonderful and attentive. Through the power of Google Translate, he was able to accommodate our needs and even shuttle me to the train station and the Snow Monkey Park. Exceptional customer service and the common room felt cozy and inviting. Views of mountains and a nice lil fireplace made this place exceptional. Would return

Cosy, warmhearted place in a traditionally restored bed & breakfast run by amazing host couple that made you feel very welcome. The town has multiple onsens to try out via voucher provided in this b&b.

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

Warm cosy common area with a fireplace and traditional wooden interior. Very nice owner, even offered me a ride to the station. Located 10min walk from one of the best Onsen in the area. Would go back !

Yoshiro was a very accomodating host. In spite of the language, he never failed to communicate well with us and he cooked well. The guest house was charming and cozy and our room looked and felt authentic Japanese.

A lovely stay in this charming ryokan. It's a simple structure without any luxuries, but it oozes the charm of the owners who will take care of almost everything during your stay. Cozy futons, warm bedroom (mind this was during a cold winter day), simple but well-cooked breakfast and dinner just like your own obachan would do. The onsen is quite nice, and it's an overall high-cost-benefit stay even if it's not in the middle of the delightful Shibu Onsen that made the area famous. Highly recommended.

Everything was great for our stay here, from the gracious host, the delicious food, and the relaxing onsen. Locarion is great as it's just a short walk to the ski lifts too. Had a fantastic time staying at this warm and cosy lodge and would highly recommend Okushiga Lodge Yama no Manimani.
